Is it worth It?? 1985 250 es big red

I found this post on craigslist and im not sure if it is worth it. It is a 1985 250es big red. He says it has been sitting for about 3 months but he said it started up with no problem. It needs a new front tire and he says that is runs strong. As you can see in the picture it needs work. Just comment and let me know what i should pay he wants $500 but its been up for a week.

$500 is way too much. More around the 200 mark. Looks like a strait front rack. I wouldn't invest much more than that in it. You can find a good runner for $850-$1,000 that you wont need to do anything to.

yea i agree i had gotten a 1983 big red and it didnt need any work and was in great shape so i dont think ill do more than $300. My only problem is that where i live it is not to common that 3 wheelers are for sale

I would say $200-300. Paying $500 is wayyyy to much. Its just a lot of work and a lot of money. It needs plastics and tires. Right there is another $400 easy. New seat cover. Who knows what else it needs. It looks like its been out in the elements way too long.

I think $300 would be fair for both buyer and seller. The rig is in kinda tough shape, but if the motor runs strong and has a good transmission, it alone is worth the purchase price. The sad truth is that often these old beasts are often worth more in parts than as complete machines.

I was thinking $300 before I read the replies, so everyone seems to be around the same price range :). For that thing, I would buy it, put another seat on it (I have spares :P), and just ride it, use it as your beater / utility trike and wait for a better one to make look nice.

I have $500 into this one, and it is my beater/work machine. 1 way bearing is going, but good battery / starter so not a big deal. Carb needs rebuilt though.
