Since I commonly display my idiotness on this board (previous thread about starter not working), I'm now trying to replace the front brake line on my 85 250es. However, I can't get the sucker on. Once I get it hooked up down by the front wheel, I can't stretch it enough to hook it up to the handle. Or vice versa.
Any tips?

take the handle off the perch, put the adjuster all the way in.(be sure the slot in the adjuster lines up with the slot in the perch) Put the cable end in the brake handle then with the handle pointing straight foreward put the cable in the adjuster and perch. Then rock the handle back into the perch and put the bolt back in. adjust the cable and your done.

Hook the cable up to the perch and turn the adjuster on the perch in all the way, run it down to the brake actuator, pull the actuator rod up with your hand as you direct the threaded end of the cable thru the hole in the adjuster block and screw the wingnut on..don't forget the spring of course..
If it doesn't go then you have a non-fit aftermarket cable.
There is no trick to it!! It either fits or it doesn't, no need to take perch handles off or anything!

I bought it on ebay. It said specifically for an 85 250es big red. I'll have to fight with it again tonight.
"Up for sale a NEW OEM Honda Front Brake Cable for the ATC250ES "Big Red" 3-wheeler ATV, model year 1985 (only). The Honda Part # is 45450-HA0-000. Cable attaches to right handlebar."
