Just thought I would share my new ride. Picked this bad boy up from a buddy of mine I pit for at the race track. Said he had a sled to sell me and it was in nice shape with a fresh top end. So I was like hmmm.... I need a sled that will haul. The Mxz 583 is a great ditch banging machine just lacking in the speed area. So I fill that void with a big boy triple! lol! Just excited and thought I would share. Will get more pics once cleaned up! Pulled the carbs today. And well 2 years is a lot of filth. 178674178675

Nice, Mach-Z LT!
I'll tell ya what, there's nothing like the high speed of a big bore triple. I had an '02 MXZ800 and a '99 Mach-Z at the same time. The MXZ with it's lighter weight, single pipe, and quick revs would get from 0 to say 60 faster. But when the twin was running out of legs, that ol triple was coming into it strong. They pull hard past 100mph where the twins just lose it.
Nice old muscle sled those Mach-Z's!
PS: there are 3 P's in TRIPPPLE! ;) :beer

Once she's purring make sure you give her the old ether prove test for air leaks. No fun to do all that work and burn her down with a bad pto seal :) That is a very nice looking sled Congrats!

The guy said there is maybe 200 miles on the top end. Put fresh pistons and rings in due to it being close to 3000 miles. I will have to do carbs again. Mag side does not appear to be allowing fuel in... Oh well joys if wanting old muscle! Will check with ether easier to pull a clutch and slap a new seal in than to rebuild it.

If I remember right ,one carb is jetted richer for the configuration of the pipes? Make sure they are on the right cylinders :)

Yeah, Doo did that on some of their sleds in the early to mid 90's. On my 99 Mach, the jetting was the same across the board with all 3 carbs, same with my MXZ'z with the Series III twins. Most of the 583 and 670 powered Doo's had different jetting specs for each carb/cylinder as well.....
