How in the hell do I grab those little bastards? I've got the snap ring off--shouldn't they come out? Any tips??
I do believe you're supposed to take a screwdriver and GENTLY pry them out. Good luck

The 350x manual says after draining oil and removing snap ring, pull on top half tube and bump it against the fork seal and it will pop out. I just did a set and it takes a good BUMP against the bottom of the seal.

Not real sure about the 86, but on the 83's that I've done, and the tecate forks I've done, you have to take the bolt out from the bottom of the fork tube(use an impact, the speed spins it right out)... Then you have to hold the bottom part in one hand, and the tube in the other, and yank them apart.... The seal should pop right out....

I got it--thanks everyone. Does anyone know how much oil I need to refill them with? Also, anything else I should do before reassembly?

I swear 7.3 oz comes to mind but someone else better verify it.
If you ever get a tough fork again throw the lower leg in a vice with rags aroun it to protect it and heat up the seal area with a hair dryer. I have seem some get really stuck in there but this method always does me right.

For some reason I remember the # 265cc. I think this was for a 350x but I tried it and it came out to 9oz in the ratio rite. That's what I used (10w) and it feels good. We'll see--next time, it should only take a few minutes to change the seals now that I know what I'm doing. :D

< pulls out THE MANUAL you need one
its 86 200X's are 216-221 cc or (7.3 - 7.5 us oz)
after 86 its 226- 231 cc or (7.6-7.8 us oz)
makes you wonder if the 87 had better forks?

Finally--thank you. I rode it a little and I think I want 15 or 20w anyway. The springs are alright for the stuff I ride on (lots of roots and chop under braking but not much air) so I think soft is ok but with 10w it's a little cushy.
