Homemade wheel spacers

what u guys think? has anyone done this before if so how good/long did they last?181101181102181103i used 3/8-16 3-1/2 grade 8 bolts and nuts with 7/16-14 2in coupling nuts. So far so good there holding for now.on 84-200x

I saw a bunch of Quads at a race with this setup front and back .They seemed to hold up well . They raced tt and flat track.

I always cringe when i see spacers done like that. Theres a lot of stress there. A set of 400ex hubs would have given you the same offset

4ooex hubs only have 3/4 offset per side,, so NO they are not the same, cringe all you want ,, I have ran spacers like that on my 500 for several years without a failure...

Really should have some tapered nuts..

Flat washers and regular nuts are gonna vibrate at higher speeds and loosen because the wheel isn't centred..

To each his own. I will admit I have run a similar setup, but only like 1/2 inch.

And good call on the offset, I was just taking a guess.

I don't want to be the one guy!, But, I just want to see you guys safe.

A nice cylindrical spacer made out of many different materials that contacts BOTH surface areas is best IMHO.............

I would never hit a big jump on my track and count on all that force concentrated on 4 elongated bolts, it scares me.

IDC who did what when where how or why and I an no engineer. But if I make something structural, I like it to be OVER engineered.

You did a great job, so I just hope they hold up, your happy and you are safe.

Same here, and not just in the dunes but in open desert many times.....no problems.

bolts are rated at 9300lbX4 i highly dought they will snap maybe bend but thats all. i also used teflon for the nuts for now as i did order some taperd nuts

I will add my .02. My dad's buddy raced husky and honda atc's in the Midwest and they had exactly the same setup except he used tapered nuts. Their bolts came from the general hardware store and I doubt they were grade 8. His would bend after a season of jumping doubles but they never broke. Those will hold up just fine. Also I think it's neat to see the same old school engineering 26 years later.

u might want to go 1/2in grade 8 bolts if u dont have rear suspension
