Well guys back on dec 18th I had a nasty kickback starting the 350x and busted my heel in 3 places. I had to have surgery to put it all back together. Now im casted up for 4 to 6 weeks which sucks and with my disability it makes it extra hard to get around for now. But Ill pull threw.

HEEL!!!??? Usually it's shin. I have about 12 permanent knobs on my right shin from 250R's and built 350X's back before I knew how to start them. Never heard of heel though. My favorite of all to start are the 230/250 Quadsports. All others on this Earth hate the setup,I love it :) Take your time healing up. A few extra days now is a very good investment for the rest of your life.

Sorry to hear that. I had some bad kick backs on a 350x I had. Never broke anything though. It will be a while before you can kick that thing over again. Maybe its time to retire to a big red :)

Good luck healing up. Sounds really unpleasant hope there are little to lingering effects when it is all healed up.

I too like the kicker on my LT250s!

Kickback really makes me appreciate the electric start on my big red. The day i sold my x i started it up and got a bloody ankle. I have had countless bruised shins and bloody shines. Happens when i get impatient and start it wrong.

The worst part about a cast is getting it off. You dont wanna move it, its weak, it just feels so wrong even though its completely fine now. Hope it all heals up good as new and no ever lasting problem or pain.

x2/3/4 take your time.
I've seen waaaay too many nice healable fractures that rounded off and will never heal because people rush and use aforementioned bones too soon.
Had one guy who'd run a chainsaw with his cast on so he now has extra pseudoarthrosis (fake joints) .

An extra week or month now can mean all the difference relative to the rest of your life.
I got the bum leg thing going too so I stand on the ground, facingbackwards and kick with my right leg.
Mostly to show off with 1/2 kick but most are sx / es models with e start.

If it does kick back, it will bruise and dent the calf muscles instead of the shinbone.
I may get kicked off this board but I can usually kick 'em 2 or 3 times with freakin' flipflops on before the pain makes me feel waay too stupid.

Amen Bro. I see videos of guys drag racing at Trikefest in less clothing than my wife wears to bed and why? Because boots and padding weigh more? I won’t lie, I did a lot of driving without a lid or boots when I was young and I have only God and dumb luck to thank for living though it unscathed for the most part. Boots, helmet and gloves are the only want to dress.

ALL of you 350X guys need to take off the decompression cable, set the valves, then set the deco- cable. I have seen the cam on the kick shaft in the wrong spot; FORCED on!

Get a bit past TDC on the compression stroke and if the jetting is good, it will fire right up.

And I am big on safety gear. But I can start my 12:1 200X or my 10.250:1 350X crate motor with sneakers on......

Bud, I am really sorry about your foot. Accidents and injuries happen but the ones that affect you for your entire life really sukk. Many people don't have that cable or it's set wrong and that crank can certainly kick back and hurt you.

I hope your alright buddy :beer

The only kickstart trike i owned was the 200x in my sig, and it was a project so i rarely actually took it out to ride. Mostly was working on it. So it wasnt tuned to 100% and was hard to start and since i wasnt riding and only tinkering, i was wearing normal sneakers or moccasins or something, so no riding boots. Thats when it chose to strike, it was a smart trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotr ailpro.

If im riding, even putting around on the BR, im in full protective gear.

kick the wheelers backwards like dirtbikes...wont ever hit your lead plus more leverage. only way i start my 200x. heal up and put a 400ex motor in the 350x and call it a day lol.

No, because it is ridiculously hot at TrikeFest.........But you won't see videos like that in the future.
There are now rules requiring minimum safety gear to compete in the drag race competition.
As a long time offender, I appreciate the organizers looking out for those of us lacking in basic common sense.

Boom. After the kickstarter ate my shin last winter this is the only way I do it. I still have a huge hole in my shin

People call me the barefoot bandit for a reason,,, cause I like kicking bikes off barefoot. I haven't had my 350X bite me yet but my LT250R got me good one time and I could barely walk for about a month. Had to go with kicking it left legged and man is that awkward.... The "stand on the side and kick it backwards" method seems pretty slick actually,,, kinda like when kicking a left side kick bike!!

You got any x-Ray pics you wouldn't mind sharing? I really feel for ya man. That crap HAS to suck. But hey just think, if you can get the bike started you only need your left leg to ride with ;D
I wish you the best and for a nice speedy recovery. Hopefully you'll be healed up in time for a summer ride

I hate when my r kicks back, I was wearing regular boots (not mx boots) and it kicked back so hard it tore the whole side of my boots off, and left my shin all black and blue lol

I'll see if I can get my xrays when I go back in 3 weeks to get my cast off. I was at the doctors yesterday and everything is healing nicely. I have 3 nice screws holding my heal and tendon together from what I seen yesterday.

Just flaashed.
What;s yer disability, if I may ask? PM is ok too.
Just thinking that a heal fracture is hard to create.
Anychance you have some sort of weakness in the bones in general?
I'm a retired xray geek, national board certified and I can't seem to turn it off.

oh, let's see, radiology for 26 years, among others.
Thought I've seen it all until I read the book of 'normal variants'.
So many new(er) imaging tricks I think I've forgotten more than I ever knew.

Retired now and treat patients for free, which, without tons of paperwork, is technically illegal.
No wonder medical care is in deep trouble.
sorry, I get sidetracked easily.
