Trying to do the math here if I end up driving myself in my own truck (2003 Ford Lightning) pulling a trailer getting around 10 miles per gallon. Just shy of 1700 miles at just under $4 per gallon will put me at about $1400 in fuel to make the round trip. I either need to find a passenger to split the cost with or hitch a ride with someone's caravan headed west. Anyone passing MO on the way with space for 1 or 2 bikes :D

i got a couple questions i'm hoping you west coasters can answer. as of now we are bringing a stock liquid R, a well built 87 trx250r and a stock 200x. i'm on the 200x and not sure what i wanna run for rear tires. being that the little 200x is not really powerfull, should i run something like a pro wedge on the rear or a paddle tire with the least number of paddles?

any insight will be greatly appreciated. thanks

What days will most of the crew be there? I assume Mon/Tuesday is biggest days since right after race dayz. Or is the weekend the better time to come out?

Only can get like 2 days off of work and I might have to be oncall for travel........Might not make it to races depending on work schedule. Thinking about hitting TJ for a party night too while there......

My trike is reliable now. Still spooging oil out the exhaust but most of the gremlins seem fixed. Not as crisp of throttle response but im running out of time and money. So will have to do.

My bike is all shined up and dune flag mounted. Did some hot laps at the local ATV track to prep the bike. I wont be much of a competitor with my stock R at the races, but i want to run it and see.

we have a group of 4 coming out. we are leaving here on the 14th hoping to touch down in surprise az on the 15th. leave there for the dunes on the 16th. we plan to leave out there on the 21st at the latest. riding along with me will be justben, and 2 of my lifelong friends, jap, and special greg. i know we are all getting very excited to meet some westcoasters and ride with you guys on your home turf!

Minty like us both this site is an antique my friend. I don't think its moved anywhere but those fees are a duners wet dream. I believe that the fees are higher now. I am thinking I paid $35.00 for the week if purchased on line with shipping and all it was $40.00. the annual is no longer a deal due to the sticker is only to be applied to one vehicle and I take several different tow vehicles. I think that was $150.00 but not sure.
Getting anxious as my rides seem to be feeling the rath of racing and breaking down. getting expensive already but I will be there. look forward to seeing my old friends and meeting some new. safe travels all.

Just a tip for the eastcoasters, you can get a parking pass at the barneys gas station in yuma or the shell on i 8 just before gordon wells, if there open. Cant waiit 1 week for departure for this canuck!!

"Where" is usually dictated by who gets there first. The sand flats at Gordons Well or Gordon Wells is like a baseball diamond. We have been around center field, or kind of along first base line the last couple years.

You can ride along the fence but you are supposed to stay a certain distance away. At another ride last year a buddy was leading and my wife got pulled over by Border Patrol and warned to stay that distance away. We have pics of people climbing the fence in previous years. Not like anyone is trying to illegally cross the other direction right?

got both the truck and the moho stuck on the way in. HairyJ came to the rescue! had us unstuck in no time!!

Went on a night ride the first night and ran out of gas like a dummy. had to leave the bike on top of a dune so it could be found in the morning. Kasey, HairyJ, and CBX1170 took a lost bike in the dunes at night as a challenge! we found the bike 1.6 miles out within an hour. great times. maybe Richard will post up that pic haha.

Met a lot of wonderful people and able to put some faces to member names. Got there a few days earlier than most of the group and met other desert visitors who gave us some firewood that "just ben" , "sandchez", "MTS", "trizilla" burned a couple nights. Sorry had to leave Thursday evening had prior commitment with grandchildren, I know just when the party was getting started. Still a little sore from the two roll overs I had following "Kasey", "DHam", his friend and Kenny. Lastly glad to have helped many have a great experience and I'll return again next year, can't wait.
