This announcement if for the Oklahoma Rampage May 3-4 2014. This ride originated as a 3wheeler.Org sponsored ride but things change. I have been hosting this ride since 2008 and regardless of what board you frequent, it is open to everyone who loves riding trikes. We all are aware 3WO has been experiencing technical difficulties following a board software upgrade and I will try to get a post up there as well but help me get the word out to all our trike riding Brothers and Sisters. Last year the bulk of us stayed in the South camp at the South end near the ranger station. I would like to shoot for the area this year. We have had a great time every year and thankfully nobody has suffered any major injuries and I would like to continue that record this year. I will be posting more details later for those who have never been to Little Sahara so stay tuned.

Date:
May 3rd and 4th 2014

Location:
Little Sahara State Park
Waynoka Oklahoma

Mark your calendar everyone. Come on out and have a great time.

(Would a mod please sticky this thread until after the ride)

Out Freakin' Standing!

I hope it's warmer this year. But not as hot as the year before. Can't control it so I'll just roll with it.

South camp is great after the renovation.

I guess I better get in gear and put one of the 70s together!

Flyingw
03-01-2014, 02:40 AM
We are a little over 60 days out. I thinks its fair to warn you guys who have never been to the Oklahoma ride that we get a little loose around here. There is also a weirdo running around calling himself The Ether Bunny......OH wait, that's me!!! Awww crap. As the host of this ride, Its my job to amp you guys up for the ride. We always have a great time (BYOB) but you didn't hear that from me. Outlaw and Keith Salyer are working on some organized events. I do need somebody who is good with a graphics program to do up a ride sticker design. I can send some examples of what we have done in the past or come up with a design of your own. Same goes for tee shirts. I usually pay for the ride stickers out of my pocket but the tee shirts are paid for by you when ordered so we need to decide if we are even going to fuss with tee shirts this year. Shoot me a PM if you want to tackle the sticker design. Post up here if you want tee shirts or would like to volunteer to handle the tee shirts. More to come.

If need be we'll double some of the spaces. The spaces are like 29 feet wide x 50 feet long and half of that is concrete! I was glad to get 511 just for my dear wife to be able to get to the privy ! We were in 507 last year and I don't think there is a bad spot in the place. So if you would like to come to this event but if all the spots are gone speak up DO NOT let that stop you!

Fast Eddie and I are going to be in 528 which is only 2 spots north of the shelter house area. If we only bring Eddie's truck and small enclosed trailer we will have some extra space in our spot. If a couple more go with us I will probably drive the motor home and trailer and we might fill it up. I will know more closer to time. Eddie's shock is at Works Performance getting rebuilt but may not get it back in time. If that happen's he will have to bring his 450 Quad instead. I will dig my Tri Z out this weekend and see if it will run. Been setting over a year now. Looking forward to seeing everyone and maybe a good ol game of Cat and Mouse.

I have been asked "What is Cat & Mouse" so here is what I came up with.

Cat & Mouse is basically a fast version of follow the leader and something we have been doing for years. We do this on the tight trails and try to avoid the open sand areas as much as possible. The leader is the Mouse and everyone else is a Cat chasing the mouse. Now if you have ever tried to catch a real Mouse you know they can be unpredictable and run off it all kinds of directions. My job as the Mouse is to try to mess the Cats up by changing my direction a lot and making switch back turns so I can keep an eye on all the Cats and make sure we don’t lose anyone. Passing is allowed between the Cat’s as long as you don’t cut corners. We only really have one rule and that is you can’t pass the Mouse because you don’t know which way I might turn next. Normally the faster riders make their way to the front but I go fast for a while and slow for a while so we can all catch our breath and let everyone get bunched up again. It’s a good workout and a lot of fun. Around Supper time (5 PM or so) is usually a good time as most people are off the dunes. I would be willing to take a group out to play if we can get something scheduled.

Anybody need some Tecate parts I can bring to RAMPAGE?

For the past couple of years, I've been grabbing Tecates and parts when close and cheap and I ended up with some extras.

Honestly, most is junk but I figured I'd check in here and haul stuff to Rampage if you want it. I do not want to deal with shipping on most of this due to size & weight issues.

Here's what I have:

This stuff is free to pick up in OK at Rampage:

Full set of 84 rims & tires. Rears tires no good. Front has decent knobbies. I'd run it except it's on an 84 rim and I don't want to deal with dismounting and mounting. Rims have crappy rattle-can back paint on 'em.

84 rear axle & housing
84 rear hubs
84 front hubs, axle, drum, etc. I think all the parts are there for a drum brake front end but I'm not sure because they're in a tub and I've never installed them.
84 fork lowers, no guts
84 forks, 1 tube junk, 1 rusty in clamp area but travel area looks OK. My notes say the tubes are bent not kinked. Might not have any guts - I can't remember, it's been a while since I looked at them.
84 forks, bent not kinked, rusty uppers, travel area usable.
84 forks
84 swinger, dogbone, and rocker for rear suspension
84 Fork boots

85 rear axle & housing
85 front hubs, axle, rotor, forks, etc. All the parts for a disk conversion, still on the parts trike. No caliper, no master, no hose, and the fork tubes are rusty junk.
85 Frame. no cracks

A strange looking grab bar. Fits the Tecates but doesn't look like a Tecate piece to me.

A couple of rear brake pedals.
A couple of sets of triple clamps. 84 or 85? Is there a difference?
At least 1 brake rotor.
Radiator with all mounting tabs busted off.
Green tank that's been rattle-canned green over the decals.
OEM gren front fender that's sunned baked and paper thin in spots.

This stuff is not free but cheap:

85 front wheel and tire. Tire is well worn. The only reason I want any $$ for it is because it's the 3rd wheel for my 85. I'll be running a Mitchell wheel but I'd like to keep this one. But it would help with a dik conversion... so $20

Cylinder and head that look like they sat out in the rain. Will need a sleeve. I haven't looked to closely. This is another piece I'm not sure I want to let go of so $50.

Green Maier front fender with some sun damage. $40.

Let me know if you want me to bring any of this to Rampage. Everything but the 85 wheel, the green fender, and the cylinder and head are going to scrap if they can't help somebody here.

Little bit of both... I want to do a cart axle setup on the 500 for some Flat track racing.. Might be nice and do a disc on the front of my brother's 84... Do you by chance have a spare carrier bolt? Missing one on the 500..

You can try out my AMS Sand Snakes if you want. 20x11x8 on 4x110 rims. I bought these for my 350X. I have not used them. It likes the knobbies fine.

Same tires I have on the 250R except the R set uses a 9" rim.

They're not Haulers so I'm not sure if they're a "nice set" but you're welcome to try 'em. I bought them because they're cheap although I don't think AMS makes 'em anymore.

I am not sure who's in charge of the TT Races but I had a idea for classes. How about these based on forward traction and roost. #1. Knobbies. #2. Angled Paddles #3. Straight Paddles. Also there should be a "Vintage" auto clutch class with only knobbies. What do you all think?

Keith, I will be more than happy to help with this, just don't want to step on anyone's toes. Are you the track layout guy? Since this is all for fun I think everyone should get a chance to give it a try no matter what machine they have and what tires they are running. We can see who all wants to play and make up some classes based on that. Does anyone have a green and checkered flags?

STUFF FOR SALE
I don't know if I we will have the space or not but I am thinking on bringing some stuff to sell.
#1. 1972/73 orange US90. Runs and shifts good, has a new carb, seat foam and cover (needs installed) and good tires. Has a wider rear axle and 200X rear wheels. Needs cosmetic stuff like the rear fender has a crack in the fiberglass and the front metal fender has some wrinkles. Probably ask $500 for that one.

#2. I also have several parts for the same 90 and 100 models. HD Axle, rare two piece aluminum wheels, misc this and that, I need to look. I won't sell this stuff before the above US90 is sold. Could work out a bundle price on all of it.

#3. Misc Tri Z parts like front hubs. Stock 86 white front & rear fenders. What do you need and I will look.

PM me if interested.
Thanks!
Randy

Hey Eric, Cook always ran his short track tank and I think he could get about an hour of hard riding out of it but he isn't running a big block :)

I just wanted to pipe in here. We were at the gas station by I-35 and Talked to 8 guys coming back from the snake hunt at Little Sahara, They said there were lots of people , the dunes were rough (all the people), said they heard that 5 people were killed in accidents. Connie and I saw some stuff on the web at I think snake hunt 32? So my point is , We all want to have fun and when 1 person gets hurt then we all aren't having fun. So Let's go have some fun and Be Careful !
We, (3 wheeler people), don't need it! Keith, I hope you still know how to elbow in the corners , Cause I KNOW that Fast Eddie and I still can! ha ha ha

I totally agree with Eric. Over the years we have had some minor injuries but our goal is to keep people safe. We encourage everyone to use your safety gear and be aware of other riders. SAFETY FIRST!!!

Safety was just one of my thoughts behind some group rides. We don't want any one getting hurt ot worse and safety is our no#1 concern for sure.

Side note - Little Sahara Sand Sports in Waynoka/Little Sahara OK is fantastic. This is the store you can ride to from the south camp.

I'm amazed they don't gouge the crap out of customers like stores at other places I've ridden.

I bought a pair of Fox Comp 5 boots there for $200 out the door - comparable to online prices and I got to try on 5 different types/sizes of boots.

I thought the same thing. Had to buy 2 flags and paid 25.00 ea which is cheaper than my dealer at home. I use Klotz Benoil and it is way cheaper at the dunes than from my dealer..
