Have burned up the "search" function on here and everywhere else and have not found the exact answer that I need. Please, excuse me if the info is here, somewhere.
So, here are the questions:

-Does an 87' TECATE rear rotor fits on the hub of the 86'?

-I know the 87 has a bigger rotor, but exactly, how much bigger?

-Are the rotors the same thickness?

If there's someone that has the answer to these questions, please, let me know. Post here or PM me.
I'll ask you to ,please, reply only if you have the correct info on this. I'm sure the answer is out there and would benefit many.
The knowledge on this site is great, that's why I turn to you guys.
Thanks in advance.

The 87 is "significantly" larger, but I can't say without going out to measure. I would say maybe 3/4" diameter though. I believe the hub is the same and you could check that my referencing a Kawi parts site, so it would fit the hub. You could also check to see if there are different caliper mounting brackets listed for the two years as I assume this is where they made up the difference when switching to the parking brake caliper.

Have you tried fitting one? Some say the rotor "may be" 1/2" bigger, others say 3/4".
I'd like to know if the 87' rotor fits on the 86' hub.
Maybe someone with an 87 or Tecate4 can give an accurate measurement of the rear rotor bolt pattern?
Do you know if the width is the same?

Anyone...?

Kawasaki says the rear brake disc hubs dont not share the same part number but it is still possible they interchange. Good question.

No mention of bolt patterns anywhere that i know of.

WOW!!! That's some great info there.
Thanks guys. I'll go ahead and make something happen.
If it does not work (which, it should) I'll only loose about $35.00
I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for the info.

Both my 87 and 86 rear discs fit on my 87 brake hub.

But the 87 disc would not fit with my 86 brake caliper.

Not sure if this helps you or not.

It does. Going by the info above, there is a 24mm (or about 1/2") difference in diameter between the 86 and 87 rotors.
But I have a plan...

I think you mean 14mm which is about 9/16" but I digress. So are you making a caliper mounting bracket or.....

You're right... It's just that I got an 87 T-4 rear rotor, which is 230mm. I confused myself.
Sorry.

Well, T4 rear rotor is not even close to fitting on the 86 T3. Bolt pattern is completely wrong (with what mine has as a rear rotor hub, looks like OEM).
Like I said, nothing even remotely close. I guess EBC rotors will have to do, even at over $100 each!!!

Anybody needs a brand new TECATE 4 rear rotor at a discounted price???
