I am having a few problems with the carb on my 84 Tecate. I think it's a 38mm Mikuni flatslide but it may be a larger. It seems that the choke is off on this unit when pulled up. This seemed odd to me and I was wondering if that is correct. It idles much faster when pushed down. I also have a problem with it revving to the moon when I turn the fuel off and let it run out, Ive never had a bike do this before:wondering. If I could correct this easily I would so any suggestions are appreciated. If I were to purchase a new carb what seems to work best on these? It's ported, PVL ignition, Bills pipe and silencer. Thank you

Looks like It is a pull up for on, maybe my idle needs to be adjusted better in the off position?

What jets are in the carb? Running a two stroke out of fuel starves the top end of oil. Bad idea.

Not sure of the sizes. it's been run this way for a while though. It is a little rich when I look at the plug but has never fouled. The main issues I'm having are when idling. It does cut out about mid range now and then though.

Good call ez...it may be revving to the moon because its leaning out as it runs out of gas....

Famous two stroke last words..."it was running so fast today, right before it blew up"lol

What color is the plug exactly?

1. white/lite gray?

2. lite tan.

3. medium tan?

4. 5dark tan?

5. dry black?

Under what conditions does it cut out?

does it do this consistently?

does it ever run perfectly with no burbles or hesitation etc?
