Just was wondering if anyone has put one of the 2000 lb. ATV winches on a 250SX and if the battery and alternator are big enough to run it.

Wouldn't see why not. I've seen old TRXs with them and its pretty much the same thing. What would you need a 2000lb winch for? Thats the beauty of three wheelers, get stuck pick up the rear end and move it over. I dont think I've ever had one really really stuck. Would look pretty cool though.

It will, with short uses, but the amperage draw of the winch is a lot more then the alternator output, so you have to allow for plenty of time to charge the battery between uses, and possibly plug it into a charger when your done using it to top the battery off. I know guys with winches on 250's for their plows, they have to plug in after every use because they drained the battery down.

My only suggestion would be to consider using an AGM battery.

I've been running my TRX300 quad all winter running the winch to raise lower the plow.
Must cycle the winch 200x an hour..
Stock battery and a charging system that has similar output to the 250sx.
I say have at it..

My question is, why would you need one? The sx is light enought to haul out of the mud by hand.
In addition, unless you fasten it directly to the body you will either:
A. Rip out your front rack.
B. Rip out your forks.
C. Bend your forks.
D. Bend your stem.
E. Rip out your stem.
F. Burn out your electrical.
G. All the above.
So, yea... Go ahead, but i would not do it. Trikes are not designed like quads that the bumper rack is part of the frame.
Just consider the possible outcomes.
With that said, the ONLY reason I would put one on is to use to help cross a quick flowing water way if you had a way to hook to the other side before crossing with the trike. They are not heavy like quads that will sink and grip to the bottom of the riverway. They tend to float...

I think it would be cool just to show off by pulling out four wheelers with my trike.
