I have a cracked intake manifold (carb to reeds) on my 84 Tecate. I have the stock cylinder with a 38mm Mikuni Carb. Is there a year of KX 250 manifold that will work here? Thank you. I thought about trying to repair it with some type of sealant, has anybody tried this for a temporary fix?

Salty, I make those intakes if interested ? 65 dollars shipped. They will handle your larger cab with ease.

it depends where the crack is, one method is to simply do the following:

clean the area with contact cleaner, lacquer thinner or alcohol [no not jack daniels].

scuff it up well with around 180 sand paper.

clean it again.

apply a moderately thin layer black silicone gasket maker around 1/8" thick. a little thicker is ok, it will still dry in 24 hours..

let it sit, stand, or lay for 24 hours.

done.

the potential prob is that it might leak at some point or crack beyond the repair while you are riding causing a lean condition that might damage your bike.

you can slow or stop the crack by drilling a small hole on each end of it, but it may simply crack on the other side of the holes anyway.

Or you can just buy one from John that he will guarantee to work.

Plasti dip. I put about a dozen light coats on my '87 KDX 200 intake manifold, and it not only works, but it looks good, too. I have probably 20 hours on it with no leaks.

Wait a minute,,, yeah of course it will fit + work. I had a fresh Nik'd KX upper on my Tecate when it was red
(it is now black and back to stock engine ~ nearly stock that is :) )
