Heh guys. My first ATV was a 1987 200X that I bought brand new off the show room floor and I have also owned a 350X and a 250R trike. 27 years and and over a dozen quads later and I don't know if I have owned another ATV that offered as much pure fun as the 200X. Of course I wish I had held onto it like everyone else...
Another interesting thing to me is that out of all the sport quads and also having owned several street bikes I still think the most thrilling, scary fast thing I have ridden was that 1985 ATC 250R. It was an absolute rocket and what made it all the more hairy is someone had ported the cylinder before I bought it. I don't think they knew what they were doing because the power band was literally a light switch. When you gave it gas it just lugged and lugged and then *bam* when it hit. Of course if you were trying to go fast you could rev it up before letting out the clutch but then it was holy hang on or try to. And in hindsight I think what made it even worse was that the jetting was right on the ragged edge of going lean and I replaced several pistons before I got rid of it. I was too young and dumb to realize that I needed to adjust the jetting.
After the 3 wheelers I moved onto quads and got into mx racing in the 90's and raced into my 30's before hanging it up. I own a couple sport quads and a utility quad and am thinking about buying another 3-wheeler to play around on so I need to get my 10 posts to check out the classifieds LOL.
Ever driven a banshee? Those will give the R's a run for their money in the "put a smile on your face" department, but anyways, :welcome:

Yes rg I have ridden a Banshee but never owned one. They do have the thrill when the power hits but the fact that you are on 3 wheels on the 250R seemed way more hairy to me. I actually bought it off my buddy who was scared to death to ride it. Every hill we came to when trail riding I would ride my 200X up, get off and walk back down to ride his 250R up while he walked up LOL.

You should have put him on the 200x and you rode the R. Either that or leave his butt lol

Yes 250Racer that is me. I have a few different 350X motors and many parts and I may be looking to sell some of them. I had bought a bunch of stuff back when I was racing and now that I just trail ride I don't need them anymore. Thanks for the welcome!
Where in Ohio are you from and ride? There is a lot of sanctioned trike racing in ohio now anx most guys are way in their thirties and not out to kill each other. If yoj still have the racing bug.

You do not need to start 10 new threads, you can simply reply 10 times to other threads/posts. Just start posting "Hey, nice bike" or "Why did you ride it with no oil in it bonehead", on 9 more threads. Many new members do it. I don't know if posting on your own thread counts.

Oh man Mosh don't tempt me. I am in my forties and yes I still have the itch but I have been scratching it by taking my son on several riding trips last year and blitzing the trails. I am not bragging and there are many people faster than I am but with my racing background I am much faster than the average weekend warrior and it is fun for me to push the pace on the trails. Last year I went on a few different trips with several guys from work who are in their 20's and on dirt bikes. I know I surprised all of them when they couldnt even come close to keeping up with a 45 yr-old guy on a 400EX lol. They usually led and I would have to wait for tbem to get way ahead so I could blitz the next section before I caught back up. I asked to lead once and after about 30 seconds I couldn't see them behind me anymore and after just a few minutes I had to pull over and wait so we didn't get separated.
Just last year I started getting into some hill climbing when I met up with some dudes that just do some insane hills. I don't do all the hills they do but it is an adrenaline rush and somewhat satisfies the thrill that racing offers. 12 years ago when I first retired from racing I bought a street bike thinking that would be fun and it wasn't even close. Since I loved the dirt I bought a nitro rc car thinking I could race that, still do jumps, and still have a motor to tinker with but again it wasn't even close and I hardly drove it and it has been sitting in a plastic bin for over 10 years.
I agree the trike racing in Ohio is awesome!

Thanks for the welcome. I did much of my MX racing at Milan MI and also did some at the CRA tracks in NE Ohio. I raced indoors several times at Summit as well as in Marion Oh at the "Coliseum". I raced a few National's at Redbud MI and once at Mt Morris PA.
As I have discovered some sweet trail riding over the last few years I wish I had tried XC racing back in those days. I was young and dumb and actually thought trail riding would be boring back then. I guess I was picturing guys putting around on utilities which would be boring but I have found some extreme trail riding is a blast. Or maybe I am getting old lol.

Oh, Mosh I am from NW Ohio and for riding I have a course laid out on my 30 acres but most of my fun riding the last few years has been going on trips to Wayne National Forest, Perry State Forest, Hatfield, and Wellsville Oh.

Hi ATC90Jay, I am an hour East of Toledo, and south of Sandusky. Any riding areas up that way? I have never been to Maumee State forest and have heard it is not that great being small and flat but I may come check it out some day. It would be a good place to take my younger son on a day trip (11 yrs-old) since he is not ready for the hills of southern or eastern Ohio.
