I have a 82 185s that sat for awhile so i cleaned the carb and jets out real good and it ran real good up and down my street with no problems so i decided to see how it runs out on the trails. It ran good for about 100 feet before it bogged down and stalled but re started ok so i clicked it in gear and took off again and now i got about 10 feet before it bogged down and stalled. Runs good at idle and doesnt stall and runs good a few feet before it boggs down and stalls but re starts no problem... any ideas or similar problems? thank you

My old 200s stalled out, but only when I was going down a hill. Floats not adjusted correctly, or sticking.

Pull the plug when it stalls and look at it. Is it wet? Black and sooty?

Check for air obstructions. Dirty filter, improperly functioning choke, choke left on, exhaust obstructions.

As mentioned, check float height as well.

I'm thinking clean your carb and change your spark plug check your air filter it may be bad.

air filter is new, carb seals have been replaced but I haven't pulled carb off to re check float. I did happen to pull the plug and it looked unusually wet, is this too much fuel fouling my plug?

Yes. Starting to sound like the float is either too high or stuck open. Big assumption because there are other possibilities.

Any gas in the air box? Gas in the cylinder? In the oil? Any of these things would indicate a stuck float, debris holding the float open, or the float needle not seating properly or just worn out.

Fuel restriction!!!!!

So basically my carb had a little fuel restriction, it was using fuel faster then it could fill the bowl up so it would run strong for a about 10-15 minutes and stall, let the bowl full up and runs again. Thank you very much for your help!

When I get a machine here that hasn't run for awhile or is running crappy and needs the carb cleaned, I always clean the tank and replace any fuel supply, vent and bowl drain lines. It's doesn't take long and usually eliminates pulling the carb to re-clean it. I like to use good quality clear lines, it makes verifying fuel flow a snap.

You wouldn't believe how much crap can get into your fuel tank from fueling up a machine from a gas can that has a bunch of dirt and crap on top of the can that falls directly into the tank when you fuel up. I tell people to make sure the top of their fuel cans are clean before fueling up. ;)
