Can a 200M motor be mounted in a 200s frame?? I think the reverse would be killer!
I bought a 1985 125M yesterday. It's in terrific condition. Brakes work!! Needs a new cable for the front but they will work just fine soon. I love the little trike but I wish badly that it had reverse. Are there any solutions?? I wish there was a reverse box option I could just add inbetween the motor and rear axle that would reverse the drive!!

Well a 200m motor does not have reverse either. And the only way to get reverse on a 84-85 125m is to replace the motor with one from a 85-86 trx 125. But the 200m motor will fit in the 200s with a frame modification to accomedate the electric starter.

I see. Thanks! I bet those 86-87 125M motors are just everywhere too and cheap lol
Did honda make a 200+cc motor with reverse gear compatible with a chain driven rear end that could be mounted in the 200s frame??

Ok its not the 86 87 motor that will work that's a whole differnt bike I know I have both the 85 and the 86 125m and anyway the 86-87 is a rare trike and parts are hard to find. Its the 85-86 trx motor that's off of a four wheeler that will work. As for the 200 motor no honda did not make a chain compatible motor with reverse.

Cool thanks! Is the trx125 motor slide right in? Or is it a pretty extensive process?

I am pretty shore that the trx motor will mount right up. But you are going to have the assembally that engages reverse off of the Trx 125 it goes on the left brake handle. Also reamber that anytime you make modifications on any four wheeler or three wheeler anything can and will happen Murphy's law.

Sorry for the wait!!!
Have a question too .. I want to put a set of 250r rims on the rear. The bolt pattern is different, so what I want to do is buy the hubs and rims. Will the 85 or 86 250r hub fit the 1985 125m axle??

Here's what I know about 125M engines. I can tell you for sure that the 86' (vertical cylinder) 125M engines and their sister engines out of trx125's are not a bolt-in into any other chassis. The rear engine mounts are noticeably wider than 185/200 engines and cb/sl/xl 125 engines, so frame mods would be necessary. As far as I know, the atc and trx engines both had reverse. I had a couple, one that ran and went into a roller trx chassis that I sold, and one that came out of an atc125m, but it had reverse, so either the atc's got reverse too, or someone had already swapped a trx engine into that trike.

That bike is clean if you haven't bought anything yet like the trx engine I would not modify it because of how nice that bike is you will probably end up doing something you regret and will probably cost you a lot of cash to fix it. now as for the rear rims why do you want to put 250r rims on it the rims look like they are in good shape?

Thanks. I am planning to leave it just this way for now! I have to tell y'all this... And idk what to make of it.. It's smoking. Didn't smoke when I bought it. And I have hardly riden it. I did cgange the oil twice in it. I also took the crankcase cover off to clean the filter near the clutch. But it was smoking before that. I have not had the compression checked but it seems to be really strong. I think I read someplace that these older 125m smoke for some reason and there is nothing wrong with em, but I didn't understand it then and can't remember what it was. Do y'all know?

Try and clean the carburator even if that's not the problem it wont hurt to clean the carb.
