View Full Version : Sikeston Raceway Park, Sikeston MO, looking for TT racers.

I was approached by the owner of Sikeston Raceway Park, in Sikeston MO, who wants to get a trike class together for the May 17, Lucas Oil MWEDT National.

Free entry to trike racers and only restrictions are lawn mower or flat track rear tires. Kill switches are not mandatory, but are highly suggested. Safety gear is helmet, goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt, and high ankle boots.

The owner is extremely stoked to get something together. This will be for fun and as always a respectful showing in order to try and grow this into something bigger.

If you are on Facebook you can find them at Sikeston Race Park or here http://www.sikestonracepark.com/

If you can make it, post here so I can give him a rough estimate on a head count.

May 17th is right around the corner.

I don't have anything to race but I only live a little over an hour from there.....
May have to go check it out.
Good Deal!

checking out tires now, looks like the plan as of today is to run the 500 and stick my budy Kyle Powers on my 310 if his 250r isnt rebuilt by then. shopping lawn mower tires now lol

edit* Gary Crum is onboard. no doubt Phill H will want to jump in too. Eric's got to work that saturday so he's a no go. Looking over my facebook friends and other locals that might be down, need to hit up Kevin and others here in MO that havent seen this yet. Im stoked!

Heres a set of tires im looking at for the race, 30$ a per tire seems reasonable. just going to buy a pile of them lol

lmao i totally thought it was like 4 or 5 hours to get down into the bottom of MO. its past Farminton/St Joe which is a solid hour away. Alright my math i awfull lol.

Fast trekkers dont count as being flat track tires , right? I assumed i would have to buy additional tires to run.

No they don't unfortunately. I was trying to respond to your message above last night but my phone crapped out. If you want some affordable beadlocks try the "rock beadlock" wheel (Fire1 turned me onto these). They are 8x8 or 9x8 and I am running hoosier 16 inch tires on mine. That is what I will be running on the 17th. I put a link below for ya.

BKM, You going to race your R that you work so hard on or do you have a rider you can race?

Going with the R, I'm taking a page out of your book and racing a fresh bike that I've dumped thousands of dollars into. The poor thing was born to race, it would be a shame to deny it at least one race. Hopefully my Tecate will be done this year and it might become my race bike/ride.

Jason, no trekkers. Hoosiers, American racer, lawnmower, ect

Also, I was going to run these on my 200x but I decided to go with hoosier. These are a really good flat track tire and was about ready to pop on these until I found my beloved hoosiers :)

DUDE, steve, are you running a strap to lower your bike lol. I was starying to look for ways to lower both the 310 and 500 for this race

atc300r
04-17-2014, 04:45 PM
A guy I raced with last year said he was using a 200x rear shock. He races a liquid r.Also a second gen r shock should fit if a 200x shock will.

The_Steve_Man
04-17-2014, 05:14 PM
I got the idea from Ed Bergman. That is how he lowered his tri-z. I made a small tt track at my house and that was a quick easy way to lower it. It works well as long as your not jumping.
I made a lowering link that I am going to try by taking a stock dog bone and cutting it in half and extending it with square tubing.

I will probably run a strap at the race so I don't have to change anything just to get it back to ride height.

In regards to headlights, remove them incase of an accident. If for some reason it doesn't come off they can be taped up, but for the ease of conversation it would probably be a good idea to yank them off. I would suck to take a spill and have your headlight glass cut open an expensive flat track tire on another riders bike

I spoke with the track owner Billy Clayton, and he said if we have a decent showing, this could be a regular thing. I'd like to promote quality over quantity when it comes to the number of races. After this race I'm going to get with him and get a list of dates and then check with everyone on here and Facebook to see which ones work the best for everyone. The last thing I want is to flood the calendar with dates and dilute the field.

Stroberts22 was the man to beat the entire night. In the open class I managed a 2nd place heat finish and a 2nd place main finish, and in the vintage heat I took fourth, and fifth in the vintage main.

I would like to thank everyone who came out last night. I had an absolute blast and from the smiles at the end of the night I'd say we all did as well. The hard hat award winner of the night goes to #71 nicker71, the guy battled having no second gear all night and was still knocking on the door the entire night.

I'm going to work on the final results here as soon as I get them.

I love that seat with it's California sun faded patina. By the time you sink into the soft cushion you set about as low or lower than a stock seat. Lots of good guys there and a good time was had by all.

Here's me trying to chase down Rick Kline in the vintage heat race after drawing last gate pick and starting on the back row. Rick's tri-z was fast. Nope this was in practice, my bad.http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/10417662_10152011110781152_8135347658108307422_n1_ zps308d19e7.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/10417662_10152011110781152_8135347658108307422_n1_ zps308d19e7.jpg.html)

Found some more pictures. On the podium I was like Ricky Bobby, didn't know what to do with my hands. Did not expect to have a podium presentation for the 3wheelers. Sikeston Race Park made us feel welcome. http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/10390955_10152061514130800_2452069368816082544_n1_ zps448789ac.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/10390955_10152061514130800_2452069368816082544_n1_ zps448789ac.jpg.html)http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/10325190_10152061514180800_5622811524036876539_n1_ zps9bc3ede8.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/10325190_10152061514180800_5622811524036876539_n1_ zps9bc3ede8.jpg.html)http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/1601066_10152060314905800_1295416070574651557_n1_z ps124d3c45.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/1601066_10152060314905800_1295416070574651557_n1_z ps124d3c45.jpg.html)http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/10430379_10152060521325800_8536718070975423571_n1_ zpsac619ab7.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/10430379_10152060521325800_8536718070975423571_n1_ zpsac619ab7.jpg.html)http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/10155388_10152060317965800_8394738173189685883_n1_ zpsf053891b.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/10155388_10152060317965800_8394738173189685883_n1_ zpsf053891b.jpg.html)http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/10322461_10152060519185800_4616314866352446960_n1_ zpsa9635767.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/10322461_10152060519185800_4616314866352446960_n1_ zpsa9635767.jpg.html)http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz40/stroberts22/1959391_10152061524250800_2406321440396199178_n1_z psbcd62e06.jpg (http://s811.photobucket.com/user/stroberts22/media/1959391_10152061524250800_2406321440396199178_n1_z psbcd62e06.jpg.html)
