Grab a beer, (Rg and Slashfan, etc..., grab a soda instead,)this is a long one, lol....
Although NOT the focus of this thread, I feel this should be said first.
I love Three Wheeler World. I have no idea what it takes to operate a website like this, and i appreciate every single person that has put forth the effort to make this site what it is. I am fully aware that I am still a newbie here, and had nothing to do with that. I simply log on, and reap the benefits of trike brotherhood.
Im not a suck up, if you havent noticed, so please dont view the following as such, I havent gotten a real opportunity to have this heard yet. I cant speak for the ones that are no longer on the site, but...
atctim, Billy, Howdy, Louis, X-owner, Mrs. Mosh and Mosh,
and im sure there are even more behind the scenes,
Thank You.

A few days ago there was a member here that had a less than enjoyable experience with ZMPerformance. That member is absolutely encouraged to use the contact info provided to have a private conversation with zmperformance, as jeff would like to address his concerns and attempt to find another resolution.
While ZM did sign up for an account here recently, the thread is no longer availlable to respond to that member's concerns directly, so they would like to address them here, as well as giving a little background on the company, and just a general hello.
Being as they are a new member, I did offer to post this good news of a Donation for Trikefest in Trikesylvania, so that we could get suggestions from some of the veteran TF attendees on the donation ideas. Again, all suggestions are welcome.
There were some rumors, Jeff does address that. Keep in mind that he is a business owner, doing his best to provide our community with products that we all really need. He has to back his company up.
Please read this post in its entirety, THANK YOU.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From Jeff, and everyone at ZMPerformance
Hello everyone. It has come to our attention that there were a couple concerns about us as a business on this forum. Since we do not currently have a [fully]vested account, we are unable to post a response in our own name. Because of this, one of our customers has offered to post it for us. From what I heard, there was a customer that was upset about a pricing issue. I am not sure what the customer is referring to in this situation. As it has been pointed out in a thread (that I guess is [no longer available to post in]), we have never sold 250ES fenders at the price of $226. We do get alot of phone calls during the day, so I do not specifically know what was said on the phone to this person. But I can tell you that even our new fenders are less than $226. Our blems are $204 shipped in the US. With the customer being in Canada, I do not know what was quoted for shipping to him.
I apologize if there was any confusion in this process. We would be more than happy to quote him again if he wants to call us. We do our very best to keep our customers happy and want to provide the best service that we can for them.
Supposedly there are some rumors about our business. We are in fact a legitimate dealer for Maier. We are not located in California which is where Maier is located. We are in Oregon. We do have our own shop. We are an ATV Parts and Accessories Dealer for many manufacturers and dealers. We are in no way "related" to or affiliated directly with Maier. Maier controls their product by not allowing their dealers to sell below a minimum advertised price (MAP). This is to make sure that competition is fair across the board for all dealers. We are full supporters of MAP pricing as it protects the product's integrity.
We have never, nor are we about to start, talking bad about other businesses. That is not what we are here for. A lot of our customers frequent 3wheelerworld and we would like to support this community. We are here to help our customers in any way we can.[I] We aren't here to take business away from anyone, so if there is anything we can do to help, let us know.
We would be more than willing to make a donation of parts to Trikefest if it supports a good cause. We have never been asked to do that before by anyone until now, so it is definitely something we would be interested in.
We do our very best to provide the best service to our customers as we can. If there are any customers that have issues, we would be more than willing to address them with you. We would love to be a valued asset here at 3wheelerworld. We are always available for questions or concerns.
Thank you!!

Dohc here again.
I want to also thank the members that have been providing this community with top notch products and services for years, the members that have been purchasing those products and services, and I wholeheartedly believe in supporting. This industry is my LIFE.
There are many members here that supply similar things, i apologize but i dont know you all. I do know for sure that Mrs. Mosh at Cosmic Quads (maybe youve heard of her? lol) sells a slew of high quality products, and ive seen tons of great reviews! Many of you have done business with Cosmic, ive heard the raving, and i encourage anyone to consider them any time you need something! Since her and Mosh have done SO much for this site and community, they are the first ones to come to mind...THANKS GUYS. Theres a lot of great sellers in the 3ww shop too, shoot, even in the class ads!
.................................................. .................................................. .......................................
ANNND on to the donation suggestions!!
Im working closely with jeff to try to come up with something that is reasonable and useful.
Ive never been to a Trikefest guys. Could there be a raffle? Is there a TF build that isnt finished and needs parts?
Visit www.zmperformance.com and look through the products. Feel free to email or pm me if you do not want to post your suggestion on the boards.
Thats all i have for now folks, Let the POSITIVE discussion and suggestions begin!!:beer

Good post. :beer
May be possible that once ZM Performance's account is at full member status, they may want to inquire with Billy about becoming part of the 3ww shop??
I would like to say welcome aboard to ZM Performance. Any outfit that is interested in helping keep our old trikes running and looking good is OK by me! :)

Its Funny That he mentioned he was never contacted it about a Donation or help with anything for the Trikefest, They where ask about getting us a set of ATC70 fenders, As they where the cheapest on ebay. When we contacted them there response was he would knock 10 bucks off The price of the fenders. So either someone answering the eBay questions isn't relaying messages to the boss or someone is being dishonest.

As stated before, ZM is offering a donation to Trikefest.
I can not and will not comment on any previous inquiries, all I can do is ask for suggestions on the donations ZM is offering to the community at this time.
Thanks!

Just stating the facts, I know the Donation Trike Is covered as far as plastics go. So anything that would be donated would go on the Door prize table.

Also, do you still need a set? Maybe they would provide those, and if they've already been purchased, possibly a donation to cover the cost?
Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't see it at first.....
Oops edit, I see that you have the plastics.
Also, if it works better or you have next years build planned, that might be an option as well!
Zm does offer more products than just plastic, so it doesn't have to be confined to that.

Im sure that ZM is very appreciative of the positive feedback here, and i think its a great thing for us to be able to have our input heard right here on the forum now.... I'll be looking forward to a commencement thread!

I think whatever they do end up donating should be raffled off at this years Trikefest and the proceeds go to next years trike build for Trikefest. That way even more money is gathered for next years build on too o what you'd already be getting for this years trike (and various expenses).
Just a thought.

It's great that they want to make a donation. I'm sure anything they decide to donate will be very appreciated!
It was only through ZMP that were we able to get the special run of 1st Gen 250R fenders in White from Maier and at a very good price. I've also dealt
with them before on plastics for a Z400 and it was a smooth transaction.

At this point they're welcome to donate anything trike related for the give away table but the raffle trike is covered as far as plastic is concerned. Thank you.

Also, DOHCBikes thank you from the moderation team. It's not often anything like that is said. It's hard to keep the world happy. You all have no idea the sea of emails and pm's and reported posts we get because someone doesn't like some little thing or thinks they where mistreated. I think most members forget the fact that there are thousands of people on this forum, even if they don't all post at once.

Jeff was very easy to deal with through the whole transaction. Kept us informed through the whole process and got the fenders to us a lot quicker than any of us anticipated! They even shipped them directly to each individual which saved time and money of shipping them all to me and then me having to ship them back out. A great experience and I'm eager to see what they may donate. That being said, my only issue with this thread is the "cuddos" for donating is usually done for everyone involved in 1 thread by the builder or organizer. Let's not forget that there are many others who have, and continue to donate time, money, and product to TF and maintenance of this site and don't have a sole thread dedicated to what they have or will contribute.

Loius, Xowner, I may go ahead and pm you to see what we can set up here. I'm sure that if this donation process goes smoothly, that you guys will have a regular donation sponsor on your hands!!
Mr. Sound, I appreciate your concern and thank you for mentioning that, this is not "kudos" or a feedback thread.
Obviously there was more than one focus on the post, but most importantly It is intended to garner suggestions for the donations to trikefest.
Louis and X-owner have indicated that the door give away would probably be the best option for this year, so if we could get suggestions on what items might the best that would be great!

He has already asked me about offering the 84-85 T3 fenders in red. I think you tecate guys will like what i told him;)
Also, for us 200x fans, I told him i really needed some black 1st gen shrouds. The outlook is good on that inquiry...
If you guys really want a product to be offered, my suggestion would be to gather a group and each email them,, because they base what they offer on what they are hearing they need. As im sure others here can attest, its very hard to make a mold profitable.

I messaged him a month or two ago about red tecate fenders. He said he would consider it in the future, I ended up buying a black set off of him.
He also told me he likely won't do any more white.
DohcBikes
04-18-2014, 06:22 PM
Since hes seriously considering the red right now, the more tecate guys that speak up the better! From what i am interpreting, it has just as much to do with interest as commitment, since the mold is already built.
I also really want a set of 200x fenders in blue, so im hoping to get a group together on that later this year.

For the tecate guys, good news. Jeff says that after reading the thread today, when he puts in the next order for green, he's probably going to get the red as well.
Blue 200x, I know its probably not a popular idea, but pm me because he said if I can get just a couple more guys he would maybe be able to pull that off as well.
If you contact zm directly about the products they can do a little better deal than on eBay, and that's because of fees. I'm sure the site would appreciate it if you let em know you are a member here as well.
I did direct him to Xowners pm for the trikefest discussion, and the last thing I will say FOR them is that they will be posting in the new member area, and to look forward to seeing them on the boards!
Jeff is watching this thread for production suggestions, so as long as the mods don't mind, that could continue! Sounds like the 86-87 200x scoops are a real possibility as well.

Any Yamaha plastics is definitely worth it IMO. It will make restorations easier and more people might be willing to tackle them if they can get fresh plastics.
Any restored trike is a trike saved. And like I said before, headlight shells would definitely be a plus (and I have support on that too!). Shrouds are always good...basically anything they don't already have I'd like to see hit the production line at some point.

I am willing to donate a unbroken yellow ytm 200 rear fender for maier to make a mold if there is enough demand I have no use for it and the bike it came off of has since been parted and sold but the fender still remains in my stock pile along with the plastic seat pan I no longer have the tank skin sold that a couple of years ago and the front fender was broken up on the back side, but the rear was perfect. If this could be an option let me know and we can figure out a way to get it to maier. I wish I had a spare set of 225 reaers to send to get a mold made as I still have my 225, but maybe their is a member with a set of plastics will to spare them for a mold to be made.
This is all wishful thinking unless ZM or someone on here wants to pony up thousands of dollars for molds. If it was as easy as sending in a set of fenders to replicate, and then blamo, fenders magically appear, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Hell all I want is a fender that Maier used to sell the hell out of, but for some reason thought it would be wise to trash the mold. If they wanted crazy money to repop number plates, what do you think a rear fender mold is going to cost? Then factor in who is going to buy Yamaha 225 fenders. You might sell a set a year if you're lucky.
Not trying to be Debbie Downer here, but rather bring some people back down to reality, and the reality is if there was money to be made the fenders would be in their catalog, although I still believe there is a demand for 250r low pro's. Just check out what a ratty set goes for on ebay.

I've already polished 2 sets of YTM plastic this year, I would have bought new for both if available. That's 2 sets from one guy this year. Just me.
Speak up 225 guys. bkm is right, if it won't sell they won't make it.
We won't get everything we want, but its all about showing the dealers that there IS a market. If we say there's no market, then there's no chance of getting what we need.
Its just a wish list, but some of these things are going to make it to the market if we keep asking.
i know of 8 sets of low pro honda 85/86 250r fenders would be sold if they would do those fenders also i know of 11 sets of short track shrouds coud be sold.

I like to know what a set of rear fender molds costs. I would guess, $20,000 for dies, $50 to pop a fender and a wholesale price of $100
If these were the numbers the would be investor would break even at 400 fenders. However there is a cost to money as well. If it took 5 years to sell the first 400 fenders the investor lost an opportunity to make say 5% on his $20,000, so add another $2,500 to the expense column, or another 50 fenders that would need to be sold in the first 5 years.
I’m not done. Those molds don’t last forever. I would assume that they should hold up for at least 500 fenders, maybe even thousands, but they can crack and suffer handling damage as well.
So, everyone who wants a YTM rear fender raise your hand, if we get 50 guys on board they will only be $450 each!

Not sure, I’m no plastics expect, but I’ve been quoted over $20K for high volume injection molds for small parts 8” long, 2” deep and this week I’m getting quotes on some plastic packaging that I think are stamped. Those are about 15” X 12” and 1.5” deep and we’re looking at over $2,500 for aluminum dies. This is where I’m getting my speculative numbers from. Maiers would be the ones to ask.

Lets not turn this thread into a sales thread. Selling goes in the classifieds or they will be deleted.

Thanks Howdy. For those that saw that, probably not a good idea to offer products in this thread, ;)...
All the same, I hope that particular deal goes through for that member:Bounce
Plastics availability suggestions/wishlist seems to be the theme for the thread now:beer
