took my 200s to the river and it ran excellent. I had to do a return trip home and ran it hard back to beach. 1/2 way back it started sputtering but made it to the river. once it was cooled off it ran great again. told the kid to run it awhile and 10 min in it started sputtering again. pulled carb and cleaned with no apparent dirt in it and will run it today but seems to run good. Any ideas? electrical items get hot and cause this? fuel problem?:wondering

Does you gas cap vent work properly.I had a problem a few years ago with one of my 250rs and it was a gas cap vent issue.

I would check all your electrical connection , cut a 1/4 inch off the plug wire for fresh meat both sides / new spark plug . I have seen stators do that as well .
Flip the choke on while its acting up and if that makes a difference its carb issues . check the intake manifold for cracks . As stated above make sure the gas cap is venting .
