I am thinking about getting this Can Am but I feel like 3000 miles is a lot for an 07 utility atv. Does anyone have any opinions? It is fully loaded and looks to be in pretty good shape. The guy is thinking about trading for my 89 Honda Pilot FL400.

Here is the ad:

This is a one owner machine with Title. This 2007 Can Am 400 H.O. 4x4 automatic was $7200 out the door and many extras was added for trail riding. Wheels and tires were upgraded as u can see they are SHARP (they are 26" not 25). There is little over 3000 miles which was all trail riding up North and in the Hatfield Mccoy trails, this was never taken mud bogging or through deep water and has always been cleaned and maintained after use. The platics are still bright yellow and all stickers are intact. I have 2 sets of rear cargo bags and 1 front, as seen in pic. I added high end mirrors, electric heated hand grips and heated thumb throttle and nice Hand Guards. Push button 4x4 has hardley ever been used and it has automatic front Diff 4x4 lock. I have brand new set of brakes pads that come with it as well but not needed yet. With the XT package was included a 3000lb winch and I dont think it has ever been used, its still nice and factory spooled. There is also a remote cable that u connect to winch so u dont have to sit on it and manuver it. As you can see this is a one of a kind quad that has been taken care of. Dont let the 400 cc engine fool you!!! This is High Output motor and its top in its class. Look it up online and you will see that it has more power than any other 450 out there and even more than most 500cc. There is also the Front and Rear racks that cover the nose and rear bumper that was special with this. Electric and pull start work great!! I will only trade for something in value of $4500 or more. Maybe nice camper also.

That's nothing. I know guys that put 3,000 miles per year on their quads, so 3,000 in 7 years is pretty low. Those are great machines, I bought a Grizzly 660 in 07 and wish I got a can am. A lot smoother running and riding plus I got outrun by a 500 can am from start to top speed. For their engine size a can am is about the best out there, I like honda too, but line one up with an Outlander and see for yourself which one is better.

I have a 06 Rincon with 9000 miles on it. But that's a Honda. That is one of the nicest 400 Outty's I've seen. But I would not trade for a Pilot!! It would have to be a 650 or 800. Wish we were closer. We'd be trading! I always have Can ams around :).. Mileage wise... I would reseal the clutch cover, check all of the common sense wear parts,driveshafts,bearings.. Especially the left rear swingarm bearings!!! ANY amount of squealing and they are gonna need attention. Not fun the 1st time either.. If all looks good. The engine is probably fine well past 15000 miles WITH clean oil and filters.

Very good point.

So you are saying on my part I shouldn't trade for a 400? I know the pilot is nice but most guys with a utility quad are not looking for a Pilot lol.

I would keep your pilot, it might be good having a canned ham for the first year but then you will regret it and want your pilot back!!
and 3000m is nothing

My biggest hesitation about the Pilot is the cost of repairs and parts with it being made for only 2 years. I like low maintenance lol.

You would be crazy to trade a Pilot for a trash Can. The Pilot is very rare and sought after.

I'm not sure what the Can Am is worth, but if the Pilot is in good shape it's easily worth $5K, if not $6K.

Don't do it.

The guy said his 4x4 quad with upgraded 26" tires has never been through mud or deep water in 3000 miles.

Ya, right.

Regardless of the deal, the dealer is likely shady.

191950191951191952 Completely stock. Has been rolled but what Pilot hasn't front left fender and back right fender have cracks. It is in great shape in my opinion, ITP mudlites on back and ITP aluminumns all the way around. Would rather have a cash buyer and my selection at an ATV but the market is limited for this machine I think.

Looks good! I'll trade you a Tecate for it, your choice of power- 250, 300, or KX500.:beer

You're out of your tits swapping a pilot away for a cookie cutter quad.

That could be but it is more practical for me right now. They are rare but not to the point I couldn't always get another one day. Not too worried about it.

I have a 2008 400xt fuel injected with 1600 miles... Great machine, but not maintenance free by any means. Mine was a one owner gal, in perfect shape. While I love it, it's no honda...
