View Full Version : picked up a tri moto 175 need help

i picked up a tri moto last friday hasn't been driven for ten years engine was seized tranny is seized cables were seized whole works, i rebuilt the carb bleed the oil pump started it up and it ran but apparently the pump wasn't working right for the 2 cycle oil now engine sticks when i crank it so i've taken the engine out....has anyone gone through this ?? what should i do ?? what should i look for?

Pull the head and cylinder. You may need only a top end rebuild. Hopefully the bottom end is ok, but look for anything that has vertical play, or is loose and look for pitting or rust on the lower rod bearing and crank pin. If an engine was left to sit for 10 years and is seized it because it wasn’t put away properly, i.e the last guy to use it didn’t dump a bunch of 2 stroke oil into the engine and turn it over every once in a while, or plug off the exhaust pipe. You may get lucky and be able to just hone the cylinder and change the rings, but I don’t like your odds with Northern moisture conditions. Post photos of what you find.

thanks el camexican i'll take pics tomorrow and post, i got the sleeve off the cylinder i think it needs rings for sure, but i will post pics so you guys can tell me what i need to buy..
