I got this today. Supposedly runs and drives. May need a head gasket and both intake pipes. Otherwise some TLC and it could be a decent rider I think.

I thought the CX/GL 500/650 bikes were ugly when they were introduced. That was then, but this is now, and now I want one. I love the engine"s configuration and asthetics, liquid cooling, shaft drive, and Comstar wheels. Your bike is a diamond in the ruff, and has survived remarkably well. WAAAYYYY too original and complete to hack up, imho. Totally awesome score!

Thanks Tripledog.
I also have the passenger seat that mounts where the trunk is and a couple other pieces. The front fairing is smashed on the right side. I may stitch it for now or just remove it until I can fix it properly or replace it. The gas tank is going to need cleaning on the inside. It's been sitting with very little gas in it for a year or so.

Nice bike!
Ive owned several cx500s and i absolutely love them. Tripledogs prolly right about keeping it complete, but i personally love to take weight off of them, it really enhances the performance. For a smaller bike, they ride long distances exceptionally.
Super cool engines, 80 degree OHV v-twin with 4 valve center plug heads. Cant tell you how many times i saw mine go over redline, they will take serious abuse. The engines have been known to last 200,000 miles without a major rebuild.

Any progress on the mini wing, Uber?

Mini-Wing! That's awesome. I should put that on the license plate.
I got it sorta running. The carbs need cleaning. I let it get up to running temp a couple times and haven't seen any leaks yet.
I've been a couple hours out of town up North helping a guy remodel a house. Haven't had a chance to wrench on it much.

It IS a Honda. Once you get it sorted out, it will likely last forever. Just a cool bike! Please keep us in the loop regarding further progress on this machine.

I love my GL. I've had it for over 2 years and have only had to rebuild the carbs and I ride it daily no matter the weather. Not that I have a choice lol. I blew my trucks tranny last winter but I rarely drove it any way. I mean 50 mpg vs 12 is a no brainer lol. Here is a pic of the day I got it.

And the way it sits today.

Home made rear sets, clubman bars, bobbed the rear end abit, and a suzuki rf900 rear shock to replace the blown air shock and sealed the tank. Oh and Just for good measure my dog approves of it as well lol

I was given one once that was not running and ended up selling it once it was road worthy. Never been a Honda fan and when someone called it a "Lady Wing" it's fate was sealed.
PS. Midwest; your dog is bad ass, keep him away from my poodle!
