Ok I have searched the internet and here for how to adjust the tension on the timing chain. The only thing I found was on another forum that was using a pic as reference. Only prob was is the post was so old the pic was gone. Can someone please post how to do this on the Big Red. I think the 250sx is also the same if I'm not mistaken.

If its the same as the sx then its automatic. No manual adjustment. You can pull the tensioner though to make sure its working as it should. Two bolts one on each side and it slides right out the center bolt on the end gives access to a winder that when removed you can insert a small screwdriver and wind which retracts the tensioner. Pull the screwdriver and it springs out again.

Ok so its not a routine maintenance item then. I was just curious how to do it. I could not figure it out. Thank you.

I am not saying your situation will be the same, but mine clanked for a few years will no issue at all, and I drove it pretty hard. When I rebuilt the motor, I replaced it. Its not a terribly hard job. You have to take the head cover off, and the primary clutch, possibly the oil pump if I remember correctly. Been a few years since I did it, and have done a lot since then.
