The only thing common between the two machines is they are both three wheelers made by Honda.

Seriously there is nothing to compare, they are vastly different machines.

agree 100% with Mr. Clean. Think of the 250SX as a utility machine that is semi-sporty and the 250R as a all out racer.
If you want a car comparison, it would be like comparing a SUV to a Nissan 370Z or a V8 Mustang IMHO

Would definitely pass on that deal unless his is mint and yours is a beater

Like the previous guys said, they are 100% different machines for different purposes.

I think the highlights of the differences would be:
Clutch: 250R = manual, 250SX = auto
Drive: 250R = chain, 250SX = shaft
Engine: 250R = 2 stroke, 250SX = 4 stroke
Purpose: 250R = pure fun or racing, 250SX = Fun / working

They both have about the same value in similar condition , Honestly I would rather ride a SX over an 82R for a daily rider . Electric start and reverse is nice

250sx's are awesome, less maintenance and more of a every day ridder
Great for trail ridding and mud, or just putting around taking it easy, 250r not so much.
I personally would trade but it depends on what type of ridding you like to do. In a perfect world get a 250sx for cruising and a 1985- 86 250r for the days where you want to go fast

Good job on keeping that R, Nothing like a 1st Gen 250r.

Yeah, if you already own a BR, the SX isn't really all that different, just a little more sporty with a better suspension. I think I'd keep the 250R, and that's saying something coming from me, because I'm a HUGE fan of the 250SX.
