hey guys so I sold my 84 110 last week along with my 2006 crf stunt 50 to buy this beauty. The frame is 1986 but everything else including the motor seems to be all 85. It starts right up runs great and goes through all the gears nice. The front brakes dont seem to work to well. The fluid is low the screws for the reservoir are stripped. It has a rcm slip on that doesnt look like it belongs on it. The decompression cable is missing. It has a regular clutch lever set up on it. K&n filter. None of the lights work yet. Tires are in good shape. I just ordered oil an oil filter spark plug and decompression cable for it. I need to find out how to. Adjust the chain, clean the k&n, and find the bushing that the front of the rear caliper bracket sits on because mine has play and the caliper brake has forward and backward movement. All in all I think its a decent start for 850$. Here are some pictures please be critics please give me opinions and ideas thanks!!

Looks like pretty good deal for what you paid for it. Give it a good bath, put some new parts on it and you'll be good to go for a long time. Have fun with it!!

Nice! I sold one of my 200X's to a friend last week who was selling 3 350X's. I tried like heck to get him to do some kind of trade for one of them, but he wouldn't break up the three. Oh well, at least you scored!

Pretty good score for 850. the decompression cable is a bear to get adjusted correctly, but of course you've got al the help you need here on the boards.
Good luck & keep us posted!

Saw those ads. I did not contact the seller, but I bet so many people bugged him to sell em separate.

If you want to fix your front brake, use a dremel to make a slot to get the stripped screws out with a flathead screwdriver. I have done a few like this...

....Adjust the chain, clean the k&n, and find the bushing that the front of the rear caliper bracket sits on because mine has play and the caliper brake has forward and backward movement...
To adjust your chain:
there are 2 bolts on the very back of your swingarm - loosen them
there are slots in the axle carrier between the rear sprocket and swingarm - insert allen wrench and rotate the carrier to tighten your chain
be sure to leave some slack as the chain gets tighter as the suspension is collapsed
retighten the bolts from step one
your done
I'm not 100% sure but I believe you can use soap and water to clean the K&N. Be sure to re-oil it after it has dried
The brake caliper bracket has to have play in it since it is on the axle carrier and the carrier moves during chain adjustment. Post another pic of the bushing so we can see if it is there or missing or ????
RCM exhaust looks right from the pics, what gives you the idea it is not for the 350x?

I cleaned the k&n filter with their filter cleaning and oiling kit. Was very easy to do. The exhaust has more mounting brackets on the pipe than the frame allows for thats why I thought it came off of something else. And from the head pipe to the slip on is three different pieces which I wrapped all joints with heat wrap and hose clamps. The stay bushing for the caliper bracket is severely worn. Im sure there is supposed to be some movement but I feel I have alot. I tracked down the bushing at a honda dealer in new York and they are shipping it to me. Thanks for the tip on the brake res. The front brake fluid level is at the low mark. So I am hoping maybe topping it off and even a bleed will make it grab better unless there is a problem with the piston. Pads seem ok and it does slow the bike down just not well enough in my opinion. My gn-4 spark plug and oil filter came in saturday so a tune up is my plan today after work. I also got the decompression cable in saturday too. I would love some tips and tricks on getting that set up propperly. If I can make some sales on ebay or craigslist this week I would like to invest in a new set of bars and grips. Overall its in good shape just needs my personal touch to take it from being the last guy's trike to being my trike

Here's a quick picture of the end result of the air filter. I also had to seal up the air box lid because the previous owner modofoed it and I didnt really care for the holes drilled in it. Im also going to either remove the head pipe sand it and paint it black or just replace it all together down the line. The trike also has a Clarke over sized gas tank on it too.

It looks like im missing a bracket on the case for the decompression cable. The lever is on the case above the kick start but according to my service manual there is supposed to be a cable bracket right above it.

nice work so far with tackling maintenance items first off the bat. Lots of people ignore basic upkeep so they can modify instead. have fun pulling the head pipe, i have taken one off my sisters 350x and it was a PITA! if you do take it off, be sure to sand it down or sand blast it really well and hit it with some bbq paint. I heard that works well. nice pick up for 850, looks like you got a decent condition set of rear fenders minus the mud flap!

The body work overall is a 7.5 - 8 out of 10. The whole bike is half 1985 and 1986 so I def have a mutant. The head pipe WILL be coming off because I dont like the rusted crummy look. Def alot of sanding prepping and painting to get it nice and stay nice. I always hit matience first because you really never know how well something was taken care or or lack of taken care of especially buying from a stranger. When I pull the oil filter it was gross and looked like it hasent been changed in a long time if ever at all. The oil itself did not look good either. But over all the bike is pretty much there. Good tires good wheels decent plastics nice seat minus the fact it doesnt say 350x or atc but along woth the input and opinions of all of you on this board I plan to take it in a good direction ad look forward to sharing my progress and problems

Today I got the lock bolts out of the carrier and replaced them with new ones when I adjusted the chain. I also put the new bushing on the caliper bracket but it still has play like I can move the caliper bracket a little up and down. Started cleaning out the shed today sold an old tackle box and gear. Working on selling some atv tires then im going to be getting new bars and grips.

Nice bars. You should also invest in a pre-filter for that K&N. 197573
Also nice bike.

Thanks for the tip I will have to look into one of those!. I just sold some stuff on ebay this morning so I am going to buy new bulbs for the head light alonh with a new tail light the pre uous owner broke the lens and chopped off the wiring. Does the pre filter affect the air flow?

No. And when running a K&N on any off road machine you should run a pre-filter.

Any one have any leads on a decently priced voltage regulator? Or is 45$ a good buy from ebay?

Beautiful 350x welcome to the club. I've broke 6 of the last exhaust stud bolts that I've tried to remove. They get welded on with dirt heat and exhaust corrosion. Use pb blast on them for a week then go out for a nice long ride and get them good and hot, then try to remove.
