 Honda should have done this Back In The Day!!!!!!:D What I have done is Screwed up another Good Honda !!!Man I like this X
Any Way I started with a '86 200x chassis from Mr.Clean along with some other small parts I didn't have and It's all coming together as
Planned! I used a '87 200sx engine and lots of small parts from the Quad! :D The quads are great parts Machines  and so far
I'm very Happy the way this is all working out....So Far I haven't wasted any "Money":Bounce:Bounce:Bounce This is going to be my Build
thread so we will see!!!!

Subscribed!!! This gives me a spectacular idea!
I just bought a 250X a couple months ago missing all its wheels, axle, and brakes. Plastic and seat are in ruin....motor is tight, good compression, they had butchered up the wiring on the motor after installing a cam as the story goes and it had no spark. I found the reverse switch wiring was cut up and I believe they have an ignition interlock so that it cannot be started in reverse? Anyway, he kept robbing parts off it for his other quads after he pushed it to the back of the garage until it was in the shape I found it and snatched it up for parts really. I was going to build my wife a decent 250X quad but would rather have a trike.
I know where there are a couple late model 200X rolling chassis at near me that would love to get back on the trail.
anyway I paid 75$ for a motor and carb still bolted to its quad frame.

Sweet project ol deuce! This is the only way I would consider having a second gen.
ironchop, I don't know if you care, but i dont think the 250x motors are of the same configuration as the 200sx. I've looked into making a 250x trike as well. If not the same, a trike frontend on the 250 frame might be a simpler route. Tell me if I'm wrong about your motor because if I am, I want one.
Being a bike builder, I'm sure you know that if the bike has a reverse indicator light, then it can be wired a couple ways to not start in reverse. Through the key, I'm not sure why, but it could be done. Same for neutral, or any other light indicated gear for that matter.
Definitely gonna be checking in on this build!!

the 250 TRX sport Quad is Manuel, chain drive! All this is about having enough room in the chassis for the engine swap.the 2nd gen "R" chassis would be the frame to use!!!! I really don't want to cut frame tubes unless the engine is really Special! Lots of fun!!:Bounce:Bounce:Bounce

This a very interesting conversion for me. I dearly love my 85 Bigred but my back don't so this conversion sounds like the best of both worlds to me.
I never did have much luck with the 83,84,85 200X motor wise for some reason but sure did like the suspension ~ perfect for me. Got along very well with the 350X's I have had over the years too ~ great stock suspension for me.
From what I been reading about the dry weight of the 200SX is 478 lbs.
250 BigRed @ 413 lbs.
1986 200X @ 278 lbs.
Alright Ol Deuce, looking GREAT + looking forward to more progress pics and a ride report !

Is that a small "pop" on deceleration?
If the airscrew is about 1.5 turned out (and has screw/spring/washer/o-ring), your pilot jet should be AOK. Header leaks do this as well.
My X use to do that and just a 1/4 turn out of the fuel screw took care of it....
Just my thoughts but you get huge props for someone getting this done and it looks relatively easy. It must be your brain and the parts you had because the other guys couldn't get it done. GREAT WORK!!!!!!!

Saw some exhaust blowing by the front of the engine in the video. Maybe it needs a copper exhaust washer between the header and head.

I've had pipes that do this because every bend, length and mounting isn't perfect in every application.
I heat them up with oxy/acet and bang them around with a big rubber mallet (with my boot), to set it into where IT WANTS to go to seal up correctly......

At LEAST 3 guys said, "It cannot fit, it will not work etc etc" and I figured they knew what was up.
But here's to you that didn't probably even read those posts and got it done!! What a fine lightweight 86 200X you have now in the same family as the 250SX which is quite a bit heavier......

Looking good Deuce, if mine ends up looking half that good I will be satisfied. My frame will be a roller soon.

That looks like a sweet build! I am now feeling totally self conscious about the 3 years it has taken me to get my 86 to a point of not running. Great job!

Today was unbelievable,The day was over 68 with a breeze,a perfect day for a ride Report !! I wasn't able to get in the hills but ! This superX Rides and Handles better than my '85Sx!:Bounce yes better! the overall power is close to equal only because of the gearing
of the SuperX .The large sprocket is a 42T over the stock 38T ! the '86 x is lighter and more agile than the 250sx ! the rear supenison of the '86 200x is mind blowing ...LoL....... WoW !!!:D

Is anyone else thinking of building one of these cool X's Ol Deuce
Yep Ol Deuce, I've been thinking about it A LOT! Ever since I had the privilege of checking out the shep1970 Super X at Trikefest, I've been eyeballing my son's clean 86' 200SX! My favorite trike of all mine to ride daily is the 250SX followed by my 86' 200X...........so I can only imagine a Super X is the best of both worlds! I'm going to start looking for the right 86/87 rolling chassis to build and have it ready when my son outgrows the SX!
