so in the parts diagram I believe the lower mounting bolt for the foot peg was m10x45 and the upper is m10x25. Now looking at the threads in the frame they both appear to be the same depth (maybe like 15mm ish of threading) then the bolts are just free floating in hollow space inside the frame. so my question, is it necessary to run that longer bolt when its really not threaded into anything? ...and yes im asking b/c I don't have the longer bolts :(

Ya, good question. Not really sure how to answer that. I hate to say run the 25s in both spots then have you break a foot peg and hurt yourself. You need a couple of 10x45 bolts?

thanks but I can grab some down at the local hardware...just more or less was wondering if anyone else had pondered this and if indeed it matters...I suppose always go with the side of caution , safety first!

I agree, safety first. There had to be an engineering reason they put a 45 on the rear of the mount.

One of the bolts for each footpeg was used to hold the unassembled bike in the crate from Japan. This is my thought of simply why it was longer. Nothing to worry about though.

Now that would make perfect sense
