Last week I picked up my first 85 350x. I have always dreamed of getting one. Lots of power but still not quite enough for me. I took it riding the past weekend and broke the bolts to the right foot peg, go figure. I think some previous owner tightened them way too much and weakened them. I managed to use an easy out and got one of them out but failed on the other. Darn easy out snapped on me and got stuck inside the bolt. So as much as I hated to do it I welded on a stud that I could put a nut on. Works great and doesn't look too shabby. Now the reason I think I need more power is the fact that I can't keep up with my friend on his crf 150, yes indeed a modern 4 stroke. I thought I could at least beat him in a drag race but he still beat me by about 25 yards. I got him on the take off but about the time I hit 5th gear he was passing me. Now I've thought about picking up a 250r 85 and up model. What I was wondering is how much faster the 250r is? I cant find any horse power specs but I can find top speed, which I'm not really all too interested in. Someone did tell me that they think the 250r is somewhere around 35 horse power but I wanted to consult the pros. I just want that quick acceleration so I can bury that little dirt bike. And I'd also like to have the 2 kings of trikes next to each other to add to the collection.

To get better accelleration, get a smaller front sprocket. go down one tooth and see how that works. Pretty cheap too. Around $15/sprocket.

he said he beat him until they topped out, which means the bike had more top end.

250rs even today in 2014, 30 years later still have a great aftermarket. i wouldnt hesitate to pick one up if you want to add one to the collection :)
