Hello everyone, I'm back for a second round. As some of you regulars may recall I purchased my first 3 wheeler a few months back and was in the process of getting it running. I'm happy to report that it does operate now but unfortunately it fouls plugs. I have a new air filter, original exhaust and filled the missing carb void with a $20 zoomzoom. Did a compression test on it and holds at 120 (engine was cold so test isn't accurate). So I'm thinking the zoomzoom is the culprit? It sits and idles nicely for a while, no smoke and runs pretty good around the yard at lower speed but when I try pushing for higher rpm range it bogs down and threatens to stall out which makes me think it's the main jet or "maybe" the needle position. I compared the original needle assembly with the zoom model and found that there's an additional notch on the needle for the zoom. The zoom's needle appears to be longer and so is the cylindrical assembly that it's mated to. Now I haven't removed the bowl on the zoom to ascertain the jet size. Has anyone else used these zoomies and if so, do they have to down jet them? Basically they're supposed to be direct bolt ons. Also thinking about foregoing my 6 volt coil for a 12. Any thoughts on that? My ATCl doesn't have any lights to worry about so my concern would be increased voltage to the spark plug which in theory increases spark. Would that increase be detrimental to the cylinder? Thanks for any helpful responses.
