View Full Version : 450R conversion, another hole for my money?

Lets presume I spend 8 - 10k on a 450R conversion after buying a decent quad or dirt bike, converting it, getting additional necessities and whatever bits and pieces needed so it doesn't look "too" redneck.....

I'd probably keep it for several years, enough to say a 2008 quad is now "old". So will it basically be tomorrow's 350x? I see those for 1500 - 2000 bucks fairly often.

I'm considering a TPC Trike or doing a motorcycle conversion myself. TPC seems to have solved the custom pieces very well, so........

The question now is, will I ever see that money back? Could it ever be worth more than the 8-10k?

lol ... if you are trying to justify it by thinking you will get your money back ,,, NO .. I built my 450 and I have $3k into it complete ,, I love it and see no reason to buy 2 machines and dismantle both to get one,,, but that's just my opinion,,,

3k sure sounds better to me. I've read all the conversion threads I can find on here but don't recall yours. Do you have one detailing your build? Or at least tell me a little about how I can do it for that cheap and what parts are bolt on, slight mods, and custom parts?

I found a yzf400 for 1600 near me today. Starting there and making a 3wheeler out of that could keep my overall build costs down.

The main thing I don't know how to solve is the front hub and brake. What did you do for yours? I see you have the dirt bike forks; what hub, axle bolt and brake setup do you have?

I figure a custom set of triples will need to be made.
