Hello All,
I recently came into an old 1984 200ES Big Red. The person I bought it from used it as a bogger so it has no electrical system, no front rack, no headlight, no brakes and the fenders looking like frankensteins monster.
I'm working on getting it restored. It runs very well now that the starter has been cleaned and no longer seizes. I just received the brake lines and replacement levers. I also just received a new front Rack and light protector. I wanted to try to put the front rack on but for the life of me I can't seem to see how it bolts on.
Does anyone have a view or diagram of how it is supposed to bolt on? I can't find holes or anything really.
Thanks,
JAred

Sounds like you have a parts bike . This is a pic of mine .
Does the rack you have look like this ?

Exactly the same rack, but the forks on yours look completely different from mine. I'm trying to upload a picture but it keeps freezing on me so it might not show up.
It may be at some point the front end was replaced but I don't know.
I wouldn't say mine was a parts bike, I would say it was well used. It runs awesome, still starts up in a couple pulls even on the coldest days here in northern saskatchewan. The air intake was rerouted so it could run through deeper water and mud. The parts that were removed were supposed to come with it but I was away when the sale was arranged and my buddy forgot to pick up the parts when he picked up the trike. I didn't have time to go get them after the fact either. 205969

That looks like a 200s front end.

After reading that and looking up images of the 200S front end, you are very much correct. I guess at some point the previous owner must have wrecked the original front end and replaced it with a 200S. Ah well, my brother in law has an 84 200ES parts bike I might be able to salvage a new front end off of. And I know for sure my trike is a Big Red, it's got the shaft drive and reverse.
Guess the rebuild is on hold until I get back home to Ontario.

not a 200s front end it is a 200m front end the front fender gives it away. dont replace that front end it is an upgrade 200e front shocks sucks really bad.

Hmmm...But its different than the 200m I have back in Ontario, and that one has the rack installed. This front end doesn't even have anywhere to attach the front rack at all.

if you can find a set of 250es forks they work good and rise the front end up a bit

No offence meant with the parts bike comment , just saying 200es plastic is hard to come by . Stock 200s axle should be trailing , ( axle behind the forks ) . Maybe it does not work that way with the swap .
Heres a pic of my 200s

the forks are definitely not trailing. Could there have been multiple models of 200M forks designed because if I do a search I see some pictures of Trikes with the front rack and some with no racks.

1983 atc200 (not the big red) had a leading front axle. Is your machine shaft drive with reverse and electric start? I highly doubt it's a 1984 200es...
The atc200m also had a leading axle. The more I look at your picture the more I think it's just got an upgraded front end. If it's an 84 es I'm jealous because I want one but can't seem to find one lol.

If I look up the parts on Partszilla the 200M and 200ES both have the same front end. I have a 200M back home in Ontario. I am 100% positive the trike is an 84 ES. It does have the shaft as well as hi lo and reverse. It HAD electric start but the wiring and controls were all removed, I need to source a new harness and controls to get that working again, but after tinkering with it the last while it starts within a couple pulls even in the coldest weather. I know your feeling though about wanting one. I jumped on this one even though it was ...well used and modified..... My brother in law has an 83 Big Red and curses me constantly because he wants reverse. The only 84 200ES he has found lately has been a parts bike that does run but is missing a lot.
I've got eyes on an old ATC 70 now nearby where i work.

the front ends are defiantly different I own a 200m the forks have never been swap. And according to partzilla the front end off of a 200m only fits one other bike an 83 200 which i can also confirm to have the same front end because we own an 83 200 as well. They also did make a honda line front rack for a atc 200m because i own one of those as well.

My bad, I looked wrong.
But my 200M has the front rack as well. That was probably an available option for the trike.
My forks must be a hodge podge of parts then. Looks like the upper part is from a 200S but shocks and lower part are from a 200M or ES.
Like I said above, I'll see if I can steal the front end off my brother in laws 200ES parts bike back home.

its not a hodge podge because that front fender is defiantly off of a 200m and that fender will not bolt to a 200s. All of this stuff looks very similar but its the little details that let me know what you have.
