currently working on my 85 200x build. mine came with brand new white maier plastic for an 86-67 200x which fit but im going for all orignial. too bad you are in canada or id give you a decent deal on them.

Does anyone know which rear brake line fits good on a 200x?

I was surprise because i have alot of goodies with the new one

The frame will be sandblasted next week and paint in black also!

Its a 250cc lifan/loncin whatever chinese brand honda clone and best of all it has electric start !

The biggest deal is going to mess with the wiring but im not really afraid of that!

With the exhaust and modified airbox with uni filter i hope it will top at least 22-24 hp.!

You may need to put a little more into the motor for it to push that kind of hp. That is a good start though. You will likely need to rejet the carb for it to run right which will also give it more power. What carb are you going to use?

X2....unless that Loncin has some wicked bore/stroke that I am not familiar with, 22-24 hp is a bit high even with an exhaust and upgraded air filter

The 250 with best carb and exhaust can give him about 15-16 hp unless he tears into it and does a lot of internal work.

A 30mm carb will be use and the guys at the shop i bought it said 19hp out of the box. I dont know if its true but the thing is it will be at least a little more powerful than a stock 200x.

I just saw the numbers for the pushrod version of the lifan 200cc and it says 16hp. I know its not whp but i tought that the 250cc ohc would have a little more than the 200 ohv...no?

Hey maybe so, only real way to tell will be on a dyno. What gearing are you running?

the 250 is just 1-2hp more than the ohv. remember your dealing with Chinese not Honda that means parts are not consistent. and that means hp numbers are not going to be what you would want. you have to spend a good amount of change and time to get that motor into the 20hp range. I double stock for stock it's not at the power of a 200x original motor just do to the quality and designs. the compression on that is going to be lower. that means less power. the cam is not going to be as well laid out so that's less power and the valves will be smaller than they should so there is more power gone.

hope that helps. We races Chinese motors for a few years and well it's not easy nor cheap to make them reliable and perform. in the end a named brand motor would have been a better choice.

the Chinese are NEVER telling the truth. that I can promise you. I would be surprised if it had 12-13hp. if they told you the truth ever, would you buy from them? you buy a Chinese motor for the price not the performance, any other reason your fooling yourself. I promise you this. We were sponsored by a manufacturer. they always lie and always go the cheapest route possible on EVERYTHING no mater what it is.

don't get me wrong, you'll have fun and yes the electric start will be nice. you can also order a complete wiring harness form where you got it from with all electronics and switches. I highly recommend you spend the $65-$85 and do that. don't worry about performance. enjoy the motor and ride your trike. you got the motor because it was what you could afford and it gets you riding. just stick to that and you'll enjoy it. if you try to do performance route, you'll hate yourself.

want real performance? get a 150R or even a 250R motor and drop one of them into that trike. See what happens. the 150R is about 28hp form the factory stock and the 250r is 35-38. (modern 4-stroke motors is what I am referring too)

Well thanks for the answer oscar! Yes i did buy the wiring harness to make the job easier. I really curious and i think this summer ill take my trike on a shop that has a dyno to see the real number. Also i do not race my trike its only going to be trail/wood riding to have some fun. This is my 5th trike and i had fun with my 185s, 200m so i bet ill have fun with this one! I also keep in mind that next year ill be hunting for a 250r or 350x so even if my 200x doesnt have "that" much power its not that bad ;)

Some of you may recognize symbol from atc wiring diagram haha. But i made the simplest wiring diagram..well i think? If someone spot an error or something i could do better just tell me !

I put a Lifan E start OHC in my son`s `83 X. Full disclosure.... its 198cc as opposed to the 192cc the stock X was built with.

I experienced a really noticeable difference in the power of the Lifan over the stock X mill on a refresh.

granted it wasn't anywhere close to a claim of 22-24 HP but it did have considerably more torque and my cammed X had trouble walking away and leaving that Lifan in the dust (although I weigh 70lbs more than my son so maybe it`s not faster cuz I`m a fatass)

I got the new Lifan in a trade for some MC stuff and after my son trashed his X lower end, I threw the Lifan in as a temp motor so he could ride. We have forty hours plus on it so far and he`s honestly tried to destroy it but it keeps banging away. We were both impressed because neither of us are big fans of anything Chinese except a buffet so it was a pleasant surprise when we were mean to it and it held up regardless.

not a bad experience for about $300 investment. It came with a new regulator rectifier, CDI box, coil, solenoid, and a harness for a shift light indicator too. The instructions were poorly translated so I did something similar to what you did....put two Honda schematics together to make one.

I used my stock 200X wiring harness modified with bits from a 125M harness I had laying around so I could graft in the E-start goodies and use the 125M handlebar switches with the E-start button. Removed the airbox to make room for a battery box and just use a pod filter for now. We plan on fabbing a new airbox and intake though so he can ride the woods/creeks more often. Pod filters are no good against water and mud.

There is alot of good review of lifan being more powerful than the stock x. I've never ridden a 200x only 185s and 200m. And a guy i sold parts swapped a crf 230 engine in his x and he welded a 400ex battery tray so he could keep stock airbox!

I would love to take a cr250R engine and drop that into an X. The newer are electric start. With stock 38 hp before any mods that rat would stomp all!!

I checked to swap a cr125 engine in the 200x. Sure it should be alot of fun but the frame was not design for that kind of engine/exhaust. Well was kinda lucky today. I wanted new wheels for the 200x and checked online and i had my eye on a set of alba racing black beadlock rim. They were 275 shipped to my house. Off course without tire. Add another 200$............ but!

Was cheking kijiji on quebec ( craigslist in quebec ) and just wrote 4x110 rim in the search bar and find a guys 10km from me selling some black beadlock 4x110 rim with tire for 100$. Clicked on the add and i saw that they were can am ds 450 xxc oem wheel. Love the model, call the guy and went to buy the wheel. I was surprised. The rim are in really good condition, 1 or 2 paint chip but hey...for 100$ its still a good deal. The tire are real itp holeshot at maybe 50% so good for at least 1 summer.

And then! The guy ask me if i want some 4snow tire also? Im like s*** i only bring 100$ with me. Then he told me nahhh you want them? Take them or ill put them in the garbage. Cool show me! Was even more impressed ! The 4snow are like 80% still good they doesnt even have 1/2 winter ride !

So i bought

2 beadlock rear wheel with 2 holeshot and 2 4snow for 100$

Made my day!

Trx 450r rear hub! I know they had 1-3/4 to 2 inch total. Tonight ill check the stock wheel and hub width vs my new hub and can am wheel width!

Its not that i dont like the r109 red. Its only that my fender are going to be white. And trust me its going to be awesome all black and white with a just a very little pinch of red.

when you blasted it, you should have gusseted some of the frame to keep it from crackling. too late now unless you feel like blasting and repainting.

the 200x frame bend all the time at shock mount back to sub frames. the break all the time at the front engine mounts. They need to be gusseted up good not with straight welds or metal pieces either. Watch out the rear tires you chose...GNCC's will not power slide and have killer side bite...I had same tires and hated them on 3wheelers plus they dog the power way down. I went with OEM LTR450 rears which worked super well! good luck with the build, I've built too many 200x's

What rear tire did you uses? I bought them because they were cheap as hell and the guy gave me 2 4-snow! Also ill check for the gusset a friend of mine is a welder and have his shop.

I had to trim the decal a little bit because it looks like maiers fender have more little space for the rear decal but overall it fits pretty nice. And yes i know i have a 84 200x and this is a 85 decal but i think that this one is the best looking rear decal for the 1st gen

Still need brakes and im waiting for my 520 sprocket because the engine came with 530 :(.

Tomorrow ill work on the front brake setup. I have a new master/hose to install.

did you not get a 530 for the rear? 530 is bigger than 520 and that means stronger. but 520 will work fine too.

Well . Pretty sad news guys. Went for a little ride to break in the engine yesterday. I installed the chain and front brake. But i forgot that when i bought the engine the hose for the breather was ty-rapped so the pressure could not get out of the crankcase and this is what happens

The oil sight glass just pop out. Its not threaded it looks only pressed in. The engine is still good cause i saw the glass poping out and all the oil going on my pant lol. A friend of mine is going to weld a an aluminum plug on the clutch case so ill use the dipstick to check the oil level!

why not just order a new case cover? it is the cover not the centers. that way you have a working unit not modified. I can tell you from experience sight glass is nice to have due to being able to visually see every time you look at it the oil level vs. dipstick checks.

The oil sight glass just pop out. Its not threaded it looks only pressed in. The engine is still good cause i saw the glass poping out and all the oil going on my pant lol. A friend of mine is going to weld a an aluminum plug on the clutch case so ill use the dipstick to check the oil level!

Daammnn Franky!!!!:eek: Note to self: Let the fluckin crankcase breathe. It could be worse... It could have stopped running before you saw the oil on your pants. I like the new side cover idea as well. New motor needs to be like it came from the factory.

Yeah. Ill call the shop where i bougt the engine if they sell the clutch side cover. It was just going so well and then boom no more oil :(

next time you will double and triple check EVERYTHING before you take it out.
make a check list and go over it before you take it out again. a pre-flight check list for your trike with that new motor.
here is a start
oil
oil level
plug
plug wire
sparkplug boot
electric starter wire
battery
fuses
tire pressure
chain lubed
brakes working (test with motor off)
air filter
air box lid (of applicable)
loose wires? zip tie them up!
steering stem wobble? tighten up the nut!
forks (are the wobbling, or leaking oil? have them rebuilt)
rear shock (is it stiff (your name is now Stiffler you GMF!!! ;) ) or bouncy like a ball and no dampening? have it rebuilt)
lights

this should help. feel free to change it up, add/remove as you want.

Trike looks great. Sucks it broke down. Im sure you will have it up and going in no time. I ride my 84 200x most of the time great little trikes. I read an article a few years ago about Honda building some of the Chinese motors.

Thanks alot guys! I've been working too hard in this trike to let this little oil sight glass fool me ! I just received my longer brake hose for the back caliper! I will be able to install my new rear master and hose ;)

Tonight i test all the wiring harness i make for the e.start/solenoid/rectifier system and everything went perfect! The battery is charging right with the engine running and the push start works like a charm ! Now i just have to make a battery box and i'll be good to go! And also received my front sprocket i ordered a 13 and 14 teeth. I decided to put the 14 one haha the 11 teeth was just to slow for me

You may consider the new dey cell batteries. Very light weight and half the size of that battery. They are not cheep but are amazing quality.

I put a duralast sealed battery in all of my trikes. They are made in the US and sold at autozone. They sell for just under $100. I had one sitting on the bench in my shop for a few months. Put it in my super x and it fired right up. Really good for the money and autozone can look up your model trike which I thought was cool.

I think honda, back in the days used to put sone sort of drug on their bikes cause everytime i touches one i have to buy it haha. This weekend i bought 2 ct70

1st one is a K1 candy special yellow 1972 and 2nd one is a red 1980.

My favorite is the 1972. so much fun even if these are slow as hell hehe.

The 1972 will be swap 125cc 4 spd and i already ordered a 88cc big bore kit for the 1980 with an upgraded oil pump!217601

So basically its my first 2 stroke and i have a couple question.

Ill be running a 32/1 oil mix since i've read that 20/1 is too rich for our today's oil

But i want to know things that people use to make to get more power.

It has the original carb/exhaust ill probably go with a DG exhaust

But for the carb what are the most popular upgrade? A 3rd gen one or new kehin one? I've seen 30, 32 or 34mm on ebay that are brand new.

What are the jet to begin with with lets say Dg exhaust, Air filter a of course a new carb?

I have to say that when i was younger i was 4 strokes all the way but damn that 250r looks alot faster then my 200x.
