I got an '84 ATC 70 sitting on the rebuild bench. I've put in the second motor (last one had the flywheel nut welded on by an obvious R-Tard ) and still having issues with getting spark on this thing. This thing has the worst set up for timing I have ever seen and I'm sick of farting around with it. I got an entire new ignition system from the ATC70 shop (primary, secondary coil, points etc) and it's still pissing me off with ignition issues. Before I waste any more money on this thing, I was thinking on dropping a bigger engine in but since I have 4 other trikes I'm working on, I don't want to spend a fortune on this little guy... :( I just dropped cash for new tires and rims for my 200x and my Big Red and 250r need some work as well! These damn things and my plane are keeping me bloody broke!!!

Is there a Lifan engine that will drop right in or do they all require modifications to the frame? I don't think they make an actual 70cc engine for this (which would be cool) so I'm wondering what would fit? If I could use the standard exhaust that would be gravy as well! I just want this thing for when the family visits and the little ones can put-put around my property with so nothing insane needed (that's what the "r" is for :naughty: ) but if I can find something with no god damn points in it I'd be happy!!!

Thanks

Taiser

You can get 12V engines... they will require a little bit of putting together and modding to keep the stock look.
I did it with my 73-74 build...

Thanks! Looks good and not worried about the "stock" look for this one. Does it bolt right in? Does the OEM recoil fit on this?
