If you seen my build thread, you know I'm in a pickle.
Researching replacement heads shows a 82 KLT250 is pn: 11002-5026. All other years and trims are pn: 11002-5030.
Can anyone tell me the difference? If I source a later year head will it bolt up fine?
Thanks.

Will it work? I don't know. They changed the cam, bore, and I think stroke too. If you are shopping eBay, there are usually 82 top ends on there and I think you'd be safer to just stay with an 82. The 83 was a pretty big change I do know that. I could try and look up the actual differences but I don't think it matters much, most parts are common to both--except the top end! LOL
PS: displacement changed from 246cc to 249cc

Ok, so it was likely significant then. Looks like if I were to move up to the later years, I'd need a jug and piston too. I'll keep an eye out for an 82 cyl head. Thanks!
