Have you messed with the throttle or choke cables lately? Maybe one of them is pinched or routed incorrectly? If you checked the carb I would start there.

yes there are clutches on the dx but not like a dirtbike it is a centrifugal clutch. I recommend doing this start the dx up and spray carb cleaner around the intake boot, and cylinder head, if it dies way down or kills the motor then you have an air leak if not then there is an issue with the carb. most times it is the intake boot has cracked and started sucking in extra air which creates a lean condition.

I second the air leak at intake boot, a little crack in it could cause it, also if it has a round slide in the carb make sure its not in backwards, if it is it will rev ridiculously high, just turn it around and it should slide down all the way.

I can't find a leak tired the carb cleaner nothing happened should I just have the engine rebuilt?
