Jeb i really appreciate the comment, that means lots to me :-D ya its lowered as far as i know its just set all the way down on the shock and thats it. But this thing handles like its on rails its got one of the old school ram steering stabilzers on it and man does that make a world of difference! sorry i keep braggin...all i can say is i love my Z! Thanks again jeb.

18" tires handle very poorly on a TriZ because of its "chopper-like" geometry. Even with the forks slid up a couple inches, I dont run anything smaller than 20" on the track, and 22" for trail riding. There is a huge noticeable cornering difference on the MX track.

Its a klemm pipe and silencer old school stuff......TimSr i believe you but i think mine handles excellent.....but then again i havent ever raced like you have...but from my experience with these tires....i absolutly love them i think they make it handle great because it sits lower but thats my two cents.....im not tryin to start anything....like i said just my two cents

 <--- that guy should be drooling!
damn it...
now I have to out and buy a tri-z
Klemm Pipe! Awesome! Mines a Bill's with CT silencer. Our Z's are really similar Drew! I like your number plate because it has the black screen/white numbers. you must have a tether switch too. Both running twist throttles, I've got a tether but it's not hooked up and off the trike. I need a new yellow lanyard for it. I bet the steering stabilizer is pretty good. I'd like to try one someday. As far as handling goes, when I got my Z it had the stock rears on it. It rode like a cadillac but to me felt too rolly and didn't turn well. Of course I was comparing it to the KXTs I've owned and was used to. I switched to the 18" turf tamers and while it still won't slide as good as my KXT, its worlds improvement in stability over stock tires. Ground clearance never bothered me much but it does bother me when the rear end is lowered 2". I attribute some of the "less than Tecate" handling to the flexing of the sidewall of the large front tire. just my opinion. Someday I will switch to an 86 23"-er and I expect some improvement. I'm sure I'd like a flat profile 20" tire on the rear of the Z too. 22's on 8" rims are getting too much into the balloon tire realm for me, but I did have a set of 22" fast trekkers for my 84 KXT and they were ok because they were a very flat profile and were on 10" rims.

Hey Droopie, if you ever get a chance to put some 20" or 22" on there give it a try, and see the difference. You can still go with a Turf Tamer, and not have sidewall flex. When I first started racing MX with mine, my buddies were all running 18" Turf Tamers but they were on 250Rs and 200X's. They seemed to work well for them, and then I got some. I couldnt figure out why the R's were kicking my butt, and the 200X's were giving me stiff competition, until I rode one. I realized then, all the weight on the Z is on the back wheels, and the front end tilting upward pushes it all back there. What it does, when you slide the fork tubes up a couple inches, and rasie the rear end with some taller tires is shift the weight all forward. First thing I noticed when I did this was the front end started bottoming out, a sure sign I had shifted the weight forward. Then I installed progressive front springs. The R's still corner a little better on the track, but at least now Im in their league. Those 18's would probably be fine for flat track but youll be amazed at what shifting the weight forward will do on an MX style track for a Z. It also helps with "that wheelie problem" on the track.
