I've decided to go with a 28mm mikuni carb for my 84 200x. I can get that carb in either round or flat slide. the question I have is which one should I get? is one better than the other? will one clear the frame vs the other? do I have to lose the airbox? i'll be using a mossbarger intake manifold. any and all suggestions are appreciated. thanks.

The flat side should require some type of modification. Not sure about the round slide. What mods do you currently have?

The round slide will fit with no major mods but the flat slide will require a little massaging of the frame to get it in their .

I would go with the flat slide and mod the frame, they work great.

what kind of mods are required to the frame? is it a little grinding somewhere or more like cutting/welding?

yea a lil grinding and a perfectly cut radiator hose to the mossberger intake, im running this carb w the mossberger and managed to keep the x airbox with some mods. its a good carb but will require different needle on slide, what other mods are on your x? you kind of need a higher comp piston to make this carb work

If I needed it I would bid on it. It's bolt on. 3 days left and no bids.

got too love ebay/craigslist word smiths ...... “low hours used for one season excellent condition” next it'll say "just like brand new"

Personally I would go with a round slide. Wayyyy less of a headache to get into the frame. All you need to do to run the airbox with a round slide is cut the upper parking brake cable mount on the down tube.

Thanks to everyone that replied.. I think I'll go with the round slide carb as yaegerb suggested... As far as mods go , I'm just collecting parts right now but it does have a 10.25 piston and 4 inch full supertrapp exhaust, the rest is stock.

He first listed just the carb for opening bid $20 with a BIN of $40. Now the manifold added over $100 to it. I should have hit the BIN when he first listed it. I didnt really need it.

if you are looking for a little more mid and top end power and more rpm, i would use the cam below . . it may need hardened rockers etc . . you can change the gearing afterwards if you want to regain some bottom end.
