What is the best set up from people with experience. On this set up. Pipe carb for best performance.

IMHO, a 38mm PWK/AS carb would be best suited. You CAN run bigger, but bigger could be too much depending on the focus of your build.

I only have experience with ESR and FMF pipes so far. I have been satisfied with the FMF on an OEM cyl with the above carb.. Only drawback (and this is just my taste) was that it didn't seem to keep pulling in the upper mid to top. I have not run FMF on the 350 BB I own so I can't speak to how it runs on that.

Conversely, I have only run my ESR pipe on the 350 BB. I have been completely satisfied with how it comes on and keeps pulling hard up through upper mid to top. However, this pipe may just compliment the way my cylinder is ported and fed. Also, I have upgraded the 38mm PWK/AS on my BB to a 41.2mm PWK.

Everything I have stated is based solely on my "seat of the pants" impression if things. I have not done any dyno testing or anything like that.

And I will not speak on how other pipes/carbs may work for you as all I know of them is what others have stated in the past..

But may I suggest some other pipe brands to look at that are reputable: Paul Turner, LED (Formerly LRD and custom made) Matt Shearer, BDT Motorsports (a bit pricey but from what I have seen others have been satisfied with what they got for their money) And FMF may not be a bad choice if your build is more low-mid oriented. There are a couple others who have made pipes in the past in less numbers than the leading mass produced pipes, but I am not sure if they are still doing it.

Thanks for the info, i have read that alot the fmf is mostly low mid range. I might go with the ct pipe but it is 500 bucks. i mostly ride wot. Don't do trails much at all.

Ask CT if they still make the Whale Pipe??? A CT whale pipe would be nice. I ran a Paul Turner High Rev on a LT250R and it screamed on top. I liked it a lot. It made me sad I ever used and wasted time on an FMF. But according to these Dyno charts the FMF Fatty is comparable to the PT High Rev and the only thing better is the Curtis Sparks MX.

But like the article says, the pipe has to match the setup of the cylinder/head.

Just look at dyno charts here:

CT makes a nice pipe. A 38mm pwk would be a good carb. It is easily jetted and a lot of info.

The FMF has a smaller neck that puts power down low and will not it pull in the upper rpms. IMO the fmf is only good for a stock cylinder.

x3....38mm. I would either go CT, PT high-rev or a Kenny Roberts pipe. I doubt you are going to get Arlen to make you an LED pipe for that bike.

A 38mm PWK or PJ is plenty of carb. for this set-up, I would go with a CT midrange “National” pipe and keep the package the way it was designed.

Although there have been many excellent pipes suggested that will work great, I would though Hall's Precision Racing (HPR) and Jemco into the mix as well.

Keep in mind the silencer is key to any pipe.

I would not use a FMF, unless you can find one of the excellent vintage cone pipes, those ripped!

Keep in mind pipes designed for a quad can not be properly compared to a ATC 250R due to space, routing and configurations, ETC.

Ha Ha, yeah you are right. The ATC pipes are surely totally different. Hopefully someone on here has tested a bunch of pipes to know. Hard to give someone advice unless you have tried them all in every configuration. Like how FMF is no better than stock on one bike and works good on another. Basically the dynos just show who did their homework with the Honda motor. Never even seen a Sparks pipe. But it's all apples and oranges.

But like you said, CT national pipe was made for that package then that is probably the best match. If he wants WOT, then the cylinder and pipe should be setup for that. I loved the top end power band of a High Rev pipe after I bolted it on.

Those dyno charts are trx pipes NOT ATC pipes.

I'm not sure about ct but with my ESR kit you have 3 different porting options. Basically low, mid, and high range power set up. They called it trx9, trx7, or trx 11. Do you know what yours is? Also like everyone else mentioned the pwk carb is probably your best bet.

I got a pipe for a atc from LED, it was pricey, forgot how much.
