Hi, I am having a little trouble with a Honda ATC200E. It ran fine this afternoon, but when I tried to start it an hour or so later, it would not start. It would fire a few times and then quit. I pulled the plug to test for spark. It sparked sometimes and not others. No there is no spark. While I had the plug out, the spark plug boot came off, and it looks like the wire inside is a little messed. Could it be if the wire wore down or something so that it started sparking across the gap between those wires and not the plug? Is this the problem and if so, what is the best fix? Thanks

Try removing the sparkplug cap again & trim 1/4" or so from the end of the coil wire (right where the cap goes on)- then screw back on the cap (clockwise). May/may not solve the issue but sure worth a try 1st. Also try a fresh plug. Start with those.

Hey, thanks for the tips. All I did was trim the end of the spark plug wire 1/4 inch or so, and then played around with getting it screwed on right. Then it fired fired right up.
