Know your enemy. Who/what is ISIS?

So many people on here refer to ISIS and probably don't know much more than the mainstream media reports on. I won't give a history lesson on the formation of ISIS, but below are some facts and references that can help educate you should you feel so inclined (and you should know your enemy...) Additionally, I'm not much of a Beck fan, but his new book "It IS about Islam" is an easily accessible well referenced book. I read it in about 4 hours, and it was well worth the time. Anyone else who cares to contribute, please do!




What should we call them? Before Abu Bakr al Baghdadi declared the re-establishment of the caliphate and the change of his group's name to simply the Islamic State, the organization called itself the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS and not ISIL). This name in its original form is significant since Islamic eschatology sees the region of al-Sham as not simply the geographic area of the Levant, but also as the site of the 'Final Jihad' before Judgement Day. This means that those who fight in this 'Holy War' are qualitatively better than all previous jihadists from other theaters such as Afghanistan, Bosnia, or Chechnya. The special status of this conflict zone helps to explain the enormous number of Western fighters recruited by ISIS.




What is ISIS? ISIS is a full-fledged self-generated transnational insurgency. Al Qaeda by comparison was an international terrorist organization. Al Qaeda operated in multiple countries, but stopped short of operating and holding territory in multiple nations simultaneously. ISIS is a new level of insurgency;before Ramadi ISIS held territories larger than the UK in two separate countries at the same time. Additionally, they hold those territories in broad daylight.



ISIS is fully funded. They make an estimated $2-4M a day on illicit activities such as oil sales, slavery, looting historic sites, etc. Their liquidity is estimated at 400 million dollars currently. For an idea of what that much money can do, AQI only spent a total of $500K to fund the 9/11 attacks.



ISIS is well manned. They have recruited an estimated 22 thousand foreign fighters in roughly the past 6 months. For comparison, AQI in the 1980’s was called the the M.A.K., and led only 50K foreign fighters over the course of a DECADE.

What does ISIS believe? ISIS in a nutshell believes in 7th century fundamental Islam. Unlike Christianity, Islam has yet to undergo a reform. They are literally quoting the Quran and certain Hadith for legitimacy. You must understand that for Muslims, the Quran has a fundamentally different relationship to the believer than the Bible does for Christians. The Quran is not to be interpreted by the end user like the Bible is by Christians, but rather taken literally and as an instruction. Supporting documents such as the Hadith (collection of Mohammads thoughts on various issues) reinforce and serve as further guidance for Muslims.

Muslims must fight non-believers: Quran 2:216

The goal of fighting is to spread Islam: Quran 8:38

Muslims must fight until Islam is universal: Sahih Muslim 1:30-33

Permission to fight non believers: Quran 22:39
Disbelievers fight directly for satan, so Muslims must fight all unbelievers: Quran 4:76

Use terror to spread Islam: Quran 8:60

Sahih al-Bukhari 4:52:220

Those who fight and die against non believers will be rewarded: Quran 4:74, Quran 47:4-6

Muslims should not co-exist with Christians/Jews, if they do they are no better than them: Quran 5:51

Unbelievers are "monkeys and swine”: Quran 5:60




What is their plan? It isn’t a secret, the book has been written on this and published openly.The playbook they are using is called "The Managment of Savagery", and the link to read it is below. They have a 3 phase plan listed below, however it is important to understand the phases are not strictly linear. Phases 1,2,3 may be occurring simultaneously in different areas or even concurrently in the same spot.

PHASE 1: "Vexation”

Distract and exhaust the infidel enemy and his allies. Emphasis on smaller dramatic operations (not

9/11s) to prepare fighting units for Phase 2

PHASE 2: "Spread Savagery”

Move to coordinated unconventional warfare to "dislodge” nations from local control

PHASE 3: "Administer Savagery / Consolidate / Expand”

Stabilize held areas

Unite population as fighting community

Implement sharia and govern so establishing "base-state” used to attack and

expand into neighboring nations.




How will we win?

A mix of skull smashing (which we are good at) and information warfare (which we are bad at). If you are Muslim and you don't publicly denounce these attacks for what they are, outright murder of innocents who don't believe in your imaginary friend, (and a lot of your fellow Muslims who were in the wrong place at the wrong time). Then as far as I'm concerned you condone these murders.

As far as the economy and unemployment, well, if someone doesn't think they are making enough money, get off your ass and do something about it. Well its closing in on the holiday season and the year will be coming to an end soon. Once again i will briefly ponder .....what problem has the government and its employees not made any worse, same answer as last 25 years, none!

They know how to keep a good supply of illegal drugs, certain educated bread winners working to tax, certain percent people doing nothing but getting fat, certain amount of people in poverty, percent of people paying fines, chaos escalating and cant do one thing right for the people (old America people / better America people), how can that be? Smart as a fox, that's why! This must all be run by someone's imaginary friend.
Once in a while they pave a highway in the county and food is sort of cheap if that's all you have to buy, that's all I come up with again this year.
A double doublecross....well glad I got that over with early this year.
