diy zinc plating

Has anyone ever experimented w/ this before and had good results? I've been researching online lately and for the small investment, it seems worth trying. I know there are kits available for purchase to try at home, but other than the zinc anode, most of the other ingredients can be found at home to try it yourself.

I have been thinking of doing this for some time now, I do just about everything myself, so why not zinc plating?

I have collected everything I need to build a cool set-up, I am just waiting for a battery holder to arrive.

Yea, I've watched some videos and read some posts about it. Batteries and zinc anodes aren't very expensive. I've seen some home made solutions for the plating bath. I may try it out one day.
