some of you are much better at deciding years and correctness than I am. so please look at this 250 and confirm it is a complete and correct 85. I know the fenders are Meyers but that's fine. rest I need to know if they are true or crap thrown together. may be trading for it.

considering every surface has been redone, and poorly done at that (notice he spray painted his pivot bolt head white?) and knowing the bike has been "rebuilt" by a rank amateur with the intent of turning a quick buck i would say pass on this one and find yourself a original 250R that was not rebuild by god only knows who
if you do get this and plan to ride it i would take it completely apart and rebuild it correctly

Not really digging this guy's resto-mod. Typically you can tell by the engine color, but that's out the window. I think its an 85 because....
The top and bottom triple are the same color, not one black and the other natural like on an 86
The sprocket guard has the fuel line holder (you see the fuel line coming down beside it), only happened in 85
The rear shock knob isn't gold
Seat has "R" on it
Obviously all of these things could have been changed to an 85 so who really knows.
A tell-tale sign for me is looking at the rear carrier. If it is an 85 carrier, it will have "spikes" (lack of a better term) to adjust with a shock linkage tool. 1986 had the holes.
Best way to check is to have him send you a picture of the frame sticker and the title.

Guy's it does have that designed, applied and built by a 16 year old kid look to it, but the real question is what is his trading for it??? If it is a 200s or something like that who cares it could be the deal of the century. (No, I don't know what his is trading)

The frame by the foot pegs indicates 85, first pic attached.
The two other areas on the frame are the tail light mount and rear gas tank mounting. Very easy to differentiate the two years by these areas.

Looks like it has lots of potential. A good makeover and you would have a nice trike.
