Hey guys, Been a member for a while now but never really posted & lost interest after selling my 86 ATC250R BUT with a little shove got back on the 3 wheeled mind set, In june my father told me to either do something with the 86 BR250 sitting in the yard or bring it to the dump.. Cant bring gold to the dump so I moved it to my house and began working on it when I had time or days off.. while searching parts I decided to take to facebook and with a little looking around I stumbled upon 4 Stroke Tech and their 350 Big bore kit for 86-87 250 es/sx, Little more digging lead me back here, a little reading and I was on my way! Got ahold of Mickey Dunlap, Between speaking with him & what I had already read online was very encouraging! The big red had been sitting for years after an electrical issue had it non operational, Having 3 or 4 other bikes at the time I set it aside in the garage for a couple years then needed the room so outside it went tarped up with hopes the snow wouldnt eat it away too bad... after 7 something years? when I finally brought it home and looked at it, a new coil and tires.. a carb cleaning and thats it, but why stop there when something new and cool is developed for something that stopped production 29 years ago? If it wasnt a honda & especially a big red, I wouldnt have bothered! So I tore it down, everything was super tight! no worries of nothing coming off that bike! Had to use a snipe on the ratchet most of the time, But everything was Mint and clean inside, So I sent almost everything I could to be sand blasted and powder coated, Going with a Red & Black color scheme, found a fastener kit on ebay that has brand new everything for everything at almost 200$ shipped.. Bought Black 12" rims with 26" swamplites, 400EX carb the 4st Big Bore kit (Piston,Cyl sleeve,Cam) then ordered the Oil cooler and sent the head to him for Port/Polish and some bigger valves. That guy is awesome! Not only makes an awesome kit but is good with customer service, I recently just Got everything in, all im waiting on now is my frame and back rack to be coated and go pick up everything else that was coated, the engine is being assembled, had to split the cases because I dropped a gear off the secondary.. smh... but that set back is being dealt with and will be able to assemble the top end! so I should have some interesting stuff to post over the next few weeks,
If anyone could answer this it would be awesome!! ** Anyone Have any experience or Opinion on Rick's "Hot Shot" CDI? They claim 1000 more rpm and/or 2 other options.
Nothing is wrong with the stock one, Just wondering if it would be a benefit to squeeze a little more out of her or if it would be more trouble than anything else.
also read something about Foreman450 gears used on big reds, anyone know anything about that??
