Hey guys I found a really nice tank for my big red but it's leaking on the rear bottom corners on both sides. I heard red coat or kreem would work but not sure which will be the best. Any ideas? Thanks for your input.undefined

That is such a cryin' shame with suck a pretty tank.

Some radiator shops will fix 'em too.

I had one that was drained but left with the cap on.
You could easily fit 4 fingers through the bottom of the tank.

have it properly repaired either brazed soldered or welded, seal coat has to be done right and isnt a permanant fix

NEVER use kreem! That stuff is junk no matter how good it's done.

no its not, not by itself. the hole has to be properly repaired first, then use redkote

I used a material I am VERY familiar with in making parts on somebody's rusted seam leaking trike tank several years ago and it worked beautify.
Tape the outside, mix the resin and pour. It is gas proof. To hard and can cures way to quick for me to make Tri-Z top mount tanks from but it is what we make our replacement Tri-Z water pump gears and tecate water pump gears from.
If you do end up giving it a try, pm me. I have sevral tips on using that will be helpful.

Been using it for 15 years. Red kote is a permanent fix for pinhole rust leaks. You pour it in and let it cure and nothing will touch it. My last SX had the same holes as his but worse, and it's still ridden weekly by my cousin that bought it from me.

Its not a permanant fix, the metal will eventually rot and the sealcoat will fail, EVENTUALLY, it is NOT a permanant Fix, and if you open you eyes and actually look at teh picture there is a quarter inch size section of his tank that is swiss cheese from what you can see, its far from a pinhole, but I guess by your logic, Redkote is the be all end all of all tank problems and if he uses it he will NEVER EVER EVER have a problem again:crazy:

That is my logic. I'll stand by it, as will anyone who has properly used red kote. I'm done now.

I'm back! sorry things have been crazy over the holiday season and working like a dog. I kind of put everything off for a wile. Back to the tank issue, I see a lot of good feedback and I really do appreciate it! I think Ill try to get the holes fixed good as I can then red Red-Kote it.

Can't go wrong with red kote. It's been in one of my sx tanks for 10 years I bet.

You can seal that right up with red kote as long as you follow instructions on the can. It's that good. I've sealed much worse than that with it.
