Well, more of a deck in the sky, set up at 50 yrd line on my range. Will be good to shoot from, also adding a climbing wall and zip line for niece/nephews. I don't plan to add an enclosure, will just pop a tent up there to camp in or play in when they are up. Got 3 of the 5 poles in today. Deck will be 16x16 or so.
Poles are 25-30 ft

To wide for trail, so used the arch

Looks good. How far in the ground are they? Are they on cement footings?

7 ft, boulder footing. Should be solid enough for a deck once tied together. If I decide to use one end as a launch platform for zip line, I will cable that post also

Whew! Thanks for buying the man lift; thought I was looking at a Mexican construction picture of a worker standing on forks ;-) Then I realized you were wearing boots. That's going to be quite the tree stan.........errrr, tree house.

Lol^
Lift is safer, tho slower.
Prob would make a great stand, for a family of 10!
I looked long and hard for lifts,
I considered a 4x4 self driven jlg or genie lift and scissor 4x4 but for the height I wanted, they ran 15k-17k lbs. Too much for me to trailer.
Settled on trailer model . I just move it around with the bucket on the deere.
This is a 2005 with manual outriggers. That makes it a bit slower but a snap to fix. No leveling computer stuff, boards etc. just switches and relays.
Bulletproof Honda motor and easy hydraulic runs except for the in-boom run. Also the straight stick is relatively quick compared to some of the articulated / computer ones.
Not to say articulated are bad. I just couldn't justify letting one sit for all but 10 hrs/yr and then have an issue I can't fix to boot.
This was very clean and cheap for what it is.

Sounds like the perfect rig. Bet your wife had something to do with the decision to buy;-) Love the comment about waiting to trip over the right rock to finish your step; cracked me up.

What ya doin for the roof ? Wood truss ? If you're going to build them urself , layout the bottom plates , and use the deck to jig up the truss .
plastikosmd
01-24-2016, 11:34 AM
I dunno, I was sorta thinking no roof, then maybe some trusses and cable and canvas or do what I did on shooting deck, truss with clear poly panels. Not sure...

Sounds like whatever you decide for a roof the snow load will have to be taken into consideration. I would shy away from temporary fixes like tarps unles you don't mind monkeying around up there twice a year to put it up or tear down. Metal roof 8x12 pitch? Snow slides right off.

You're doing it right so protect your investment from the sun with a roof soon. Then a safety railing, then screen it in, then wiring, couch, you know the basic stuff! Nice pad.

Good eyes Atc, that pic was prior to the 5 lbs of 2.5" screws I placed. I first started securing them fully, then looked up at the weather and figured I better get cracking. So I tacked them all. Snapped pic then and then spent the next 2 hrs switching from 2 knee to 1 knee to trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro driving 600 more. Got it done in 1/2 of snow unless I missed a spot.
True dirt. First I got permission, 3k later and still short a wall, railing, stairs and maybe a roof I'm not sure she is on board
O well, no more asking for permission, just forgiveness

I think your wife wanted that bucket boom as much as she wanted you to have it. Good for her! You might have to fight her for who gets to clean the gutters this spring.

Look in good! The tree house/deck looks great too! I'll have to get a picture of my uncles Oliver oc3 next time I'm over there. Its an ag tractor not the yellow industrial version. Wish we had one with a loader to push brush and stuff with!

This oliver has had some work done
it has been converted to a distributor system, gear starter and most important auxillary second transmission to slow it down. 1/1 is pretty slow, I generally am pushing/using the loader in 2/1.

Nice! His is a nut and volt restoration, so the most use it gets is pulling a cultipacker or skidding some logs on plow days!
