issues with wiseco clutch basket 86R. Lots of slop.

Tonight i was intalling my new wiseco clutch basket. 2 issues.

Number 1: From everything ive read the kick start gear has to be put in the freezer and new basket put in the oven for that gear to drop in. I did neither and my gear literally drops right in and has a tiny amount of play. It came out of the stock basket without pressing it out, but didnt seem to have the little bit of slop in it, or i didnt notice.

Number 2: When bolting my new retainer plate through the larger kicker gear to the new basket, that also has some play even with the bolts as tight as they go.

So i continued on and after i have the basket installed on the motor and the inner hub installed, the basket has play in it, like a wobble. Im almost positive it is coming from that gear that gets installed inside of the basket.like its sliding in and out of the basket. Im not sure if this is normal or i have a junk basket.

I had this motor rebuilt top to bottom from CT racing so every bad bearing should have been replaced. My rubber cushions were in good shape. I believe i have everything installed correctly. Here is a link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5362T9My3I&feature=youtu.be

Isn't that an open needle bearing??

I thought you guys changing baskets had to grind a relief in a gear or something?

Do you have both thrust washers in there, I believe 1 is in the back and another 1 is between the 2 needle bearings I believe you have...

Number 1). Not all billet basket that the center gear fit tight, or require the basket to be heated and/or gear to be cooled (freezer) to install...some are merely a slight push fit assembly. This also applies to the OEM basket…however; once assembled, NO play should be present.

Number 2). NO play should be present once the retainer plate is bolted to the basket.

The thicker drive gears need to have a 45 degree bevel ground to clear the Billet Basket O.D.

Once the Clutch basket is installed, a small amount of play is normal, these is ‘rocking’ type play, and not back and forth play. This is the case even when all the components are New OEM.

i have beveled the gear. Judging from that video, would you say that is acceptable play in the basket? If not, what actions should i take?

I just finished rebuilding my 250R and was surprised at the amount of play too. I'm using the stock basket. After inspecting everything and finding nothing wrong, I just assumed it is inherent to the design.
