My name's Chris. Have a well worn but rock solid 85 250r. Have dates off work for the invasion and make the long drive down. Have another buddy in so cal who is also coming along. He has a clean 85 with a 310 kit. We've been trying to make the dates work out for years and are finally making it happen. Who all
Is going? How many bikes you bringing, etc?

Unfortunately, I have 8 projects going and nothing will be done in time, because of parts and time.
I may drive out to hang and say hello to all the forum members, BBQ some of my ribs (Is beer allowed at night?) and spend the night, I was thinking about going to say hello to Driscoll since El Centro is pretty close.

My plans are to arrive there early Thursday Feb 25th, staying for 10-11 days. Hope to see old friends and meet new ones. There's always drinking of spirits at the camp fire at night along with the stories of rides during the day. If no body mines I'll camp close to the same area as last year.

What does the camping situation usually look like? We have never been to GW. Always have camped on gecko loop

On Google maps Imperial Valley CA the open area for setting up camp is very close to GPS coordinates 32.724406 -114.939872 I do believe. When you get that close you gotta see ATCs man. Hairy cant wait to see you again.

East of El Centro, West of Yuma. Gordon Wells Exit on I8. North side of I8 make a right at the "T" Intersection. Proceed to the end of the pavement, follow the road to the left up over the canal.

have to agree with vonsmacken. have been going to glamis 20+ years, but never been to gordons well. looking forward to my first invasion. maybe when kasey gets there he could give some general directions and or vehicle/trailer to look for(other than a bunch of ATC's)
and post it on the forum for old timers who don't know how to use gps stuff?

Is the camping usually in a firm spot or are we talking air down and into the soft stuff?

I too have been camping at Glamis since 1980, bought many a holiday theme T-shirt from the store. If your familiar with camping in the wash's along the railroad tracks then you'll know what to expect. There are some soft areas, kiddie tracks, so be careful but generally most people don't air down. It's really not a large area and you should be able to find the group. Last year the Hall's set up a banner, hopefully again and I'll be in my vintage motor and trailer. I'm old too...can't follow GPS coordinates either but can read maps. Hope the labeled pic below helps, should be somewhere in the area of past Invasions.

much appreciated there RapidRick. excellent directions and the pic's were a bonus! i'm actually leaving for my first trip to glamis in two days and i'll be staying at wash6 with some friends. heading up to golden, co on the 18th. was coming back home after that, but now i'm looking forward to heading back to glamis to check out some cool trikes and meet some new friends. glamis is a lot closer to colorado than to tennessee i hear.

Also arriving Monday (flying into Phoenix at 10am) in the afternoon.
We have 2 from PA on 250Rs, and 1 NY Tecate rider.
If you don't do GPS, find Duner's Diner.
That puts you in close enough vicinity to follow the smell of race gas from there.

If Sidewinder is permanently closed, how far are we going to have to drive for gas?
We only have one 5 gallon can each, so we go for fuel (gasoline, beer, water.... ) almost every day.
Hope it doesn't turn that into a long drive. We need to maximize our ride time.
The first thing we will need to do when after we hit Gordons is find some 93 octane.
