Ok so i got my steering stem bearings in. Have read a few of the posts on here about the installation. I just wanted to make sure this is right. I have the new races "in" but the top on sticks out about 1/8 of an inch. Is it supposed to be like that? The bottom is all the way in. Probably an 1/8 into the neck, but like i said the top sticks out. Its all the way up against its seat from what i can tell. Thoughts?228726 <<<< Top...... 228727 <<<< bottom

Did you meausure the stem bearing? It is a press fit.
The top race looks normal. This is common when doing the conversion.
AllBalls is usually very helpful if you contact them.

Both bearings look identical to me. But ill get the caliper and measure. Its just so damn frustrating. Excuse the language. I smacked my hand w a hammer earlier trying to do it haha. Beyond aggravated

Ahhhh man youre a genius!!!!!. Bearing is on!!! That kinda pisses me off that they dont label or even mention which ones which. I sat them next to each other and the were the same height, and looked identical, so i figured they were. So i took your advice and measured w the micrometer, and you were right!!! Thank you Sir!!! Now my problem is, i have the races wrong. The one that was packaged w the bearing i coudlnt get on, is on the bottom, when it now needs to be on top

I have the same set going into a build, does the larger one go on top or on bottom?

I only use OEM ball bearings. Had a AB kit not work years ago and that's one thing I just will not upgrade anymore.

Had a AB kit not work years ago and that's one thing I just will not upgrade anymore.I've done about 15 swaps, was an AllBalls dealer for some time, and am now currently building a couple bikes that AllBalls has provided product sponsorships for. Their products are excellent and their customer service is top notch. Some bearing conversions require a slight bit of modification, but the folks at AllBalls are more than happy to provide technical support, and they always back their products.

Yeah it was actually like almost 3mm bigger when i measured it with the caliper. Hard to tell just by looking at it like i did. Once i got it figured out with his help, it slid right on. Few taps to the inner race with a flat screwdriver and it was good to go

I did end up having to leave out one of the two washers they provided. Didnt have enough threads up top for the spanner nut or whatever u call it. Took a washer out and it was all gravy

The races are the same, aren't they? Only the ID of the lower bearing is different.
