View Full Version : My experience with you people + Inner circle

I'm sure some of you Top Notch form members have heard this before.
"There's an inner circle"
"You only help out each other"
Now, my friend who's name shall not be mentioned, me and him talked about this a few times.
There are some people, people I have not met, and hope not to, who are to ignorant, to jealous, or just not smart enough to understand the simple things.
I've heard of these kinds of people complaining that only the top members help each other. That these members would never help the little guy, would never send us free parts, would never take time out to help us.
Now, I'm sure most of these people are decent and I mean to insult no one.
But they have a child's mindset of, "If I'm not getting that, why are they?" My buddy, who's a well-known forum member, told me this one day.
"IF I didn't like you, I wouldn't be doing this. I do this because I know you would do the same for me"
Now, nobody knows who I am. Most only know of me as a 19 year old kid, who doesn't know much, and asks a crap load of questions.
This friend of mine invited me to camp with him at Trikefest, without ever knowing me prior, taken 2 weekends outta his life to help me get my bike running when he's got a million things better to do, and has given me more free parts than I can count.
Now why is it that I received such treatment?
I'm not knowledgeable.
I'm not well-know.
I have hardly any skills or services to offer.
Yet, somebody was nice to me.
Possibly because I'm a half decent human being? Perhaps because I treat people with respect? Perhaps I would treat anyone the same way if it's within my power?
Really, it's the last, and that's what these people don't get.
That last principal really sums it up. The good people like this, do stuff for each other and expect nothing back. Like my buddy. He gave me this stuff, not expecting something back for everything he gave, but knowing that I would do something likewise back, if it was within my power. Like if he needed parts, and I had them to give, I'd give it. If he needed help working on a bike, If I have the time, I'd give it. If he needed advice on something I know, I'd give him what I know.
For instance, I'm not experienced in mechanics, he is, he helped me fix my bike. I sell shoes and boots. So I give boots and shoes in return.
It's sad to see that some people only wanna get and never give unless it benefits them. And I truly love this community. From the few people I have met and have gotten to know, they have been awesome.
They are polite, nice, and all-around just good people. I've had so much advice given to me. I've had quite a few people help me with bike problems and troubleshooting. So many people who have given there time to point me in the right direction, as far as working on bikes, parts to gets, services to use. So many people who are just all-around good people, friends you want to have. And I'm appreciative of everyone of them and try my best to return the favor in whatever way I can.
There is no inner-circle, there is no only helping each other, you just refuse to help or be helped

"Top members"? I didn't know there was a hierarchy here.
Forgive me but this post comes off more negative than positive and clearly seems to be inviting more of the recently baffling drama.
Not sure who came up with this inner circle business (in fact the only people I've seen post about it seem to consider themselves part of it) but I agree with you that it's pretty ridiculous to think it exists.
Personally I've sent parts to several members here at my own cost and never considered asking or receiving anything for free. No cookies are necessary.
Glad you have some people helping out.

I've found that 99% of all trike people are good people. They are giving, helpful and would do just about anything for you! This community is like a big family!

Sorry if it came off like that.
Top notch was just referring to the more well-known members who have been around awhile and often give advice, comment, etc. Not trying to add to any drama :(
The post is more or less me trying to explain my appreciation for what people have some to me. And not understanding some people's mentality.
And true, no cookies needed, you don't always give because you know someone else will give back one day.
You give because your a good willed individual
But you don't get treatment like that from being the jerk. Your just a recipient of someone else's good will.
I had an old bicycle at my house, been sitting there for awhile, kid my age comes up and wants to buy it. It needed a chain and tires. So I just gave It to him. I wasnt going to do anything with it. Didnt do it because I thought he was going to give me something in return down the road, its just being kind to a fellow human being.
That's the message I'm trying to get across is my appreciate for that kind of attitude that's fairly prevalent within the community.
And if you do that, its safe to say that the person who received that kindess, is going to want to show that to someone else.
I've been shown that kindness, and want to give that to people, both the ones I know and don't know.
Be treated how you want to be treated.

me neither. I have NO idea how it all got started.
There's something weird to me about a guy that always wants to give private advice to members of a public forum. Sure seems like he wants to have his advice go unchallenged, for whatever reason.
I'm not recommending against anything. Just giving my opinion, god forbid it differs from the good ol boy club's..
I thought these forums were for sharing knowledge, not for keeping it to ones self . Guess I'm WRONG. http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-laughing013.gif
It is also odd to me that others would condone these types of insensitive comments from others, but that's what you get with "The Good Ol' Boys Club" ..
Hey look, traffics going up already! Imagine that, more than one single way of thinking and one tiny clique of internet gurus stroking each others ego's day after day after day and telling everyone how to do stuff!
Opposing opinions, here on 3WW? OH NO THE SKY IS FALLING AHHHHHHHHHH
Yes I agree, cheap tubing usually hardens quickly. I've also seen a lot of moderately priced tubing that hardens as well. Parts unlimited fuel line, the blue stuff, is complete trash.
What I will add is that if somebody has alternatives for tubing that cost a couple bucks for us to talk about or even try (oh wow real world testing? shite), i'm all for that, as opposed to mocking them as a group and laughing them off the site for trying to provide somebody with a tip. It gets way to gang like in here with some of you guys. Always has, and that's why people are leaving and not coming back.
Blame it on facebook.
Interesting to see some of the people that won't tolerate anyone questioning their buddies choices sitting here mocking somebody for offering an affordable option for clear line.
Very interesting.
Boy traffic sure is slow around here. Wonder why.
Could possibly be because people are sick of hearing about how complicated rear shocks and how fast tiny motors are.
I have a suspicion that somebody here with all this info doesn't even own a 3 wheeler.
Let's see where that takes us, shall we.
OOHH I see a moderator checking in already!! FUN FUN!!
I see you too J, bring it. I'll be all over your thread like white on rice on a paperplate in a snowstorm.
DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU, oh holy ones.
P.S. See you lookin too Mr. C!! Long time no see, ol buddy!!

I completely agree. Your misinterpretation of what I said is obviously a part of it.
Please tell me what any of what I said has to do with an inner circle.
It pertains to the fact that for a period of time only very few people's advice or opinion was accepted, and that if anyone challenged it they were immediately mobbed.
I never said a damn thing about any inner circle, that's just what you wanted to hear.
Again, this thread is going to nothing but perpetuate drama, which is obviously now your intention. Congrats and have fun with that. I've clearly stated in several areas on the site the error of my past interaction, and my intention to change it in the future. If you want to dwell or continue to hunt witches I cannot control that.
Adios.

Jacob: I'm not sure who is considered in the "inner circle" and who is not. I don't concern myself with such things personally.
But what I do know is that I too have been on the receiving end of great generosity from some really good people here. And in my own small ways compared to some, I have tried to pay it forward and keep it going. I have met a few members personally and ridden with them, guys that have been here years longer than I. And while one or two may come across a little rough around the edges in the typed word on the forum, in person they are some of the nicest people I have ever met and ridden with.
I really haven't experienced a feeling of being outside an inner circle myself.

There is no inner circle, good old boys club, secret clique, or whatever it gets called.
That's the whole point of some of us mocking the idea with a Masonic avatar for a profile pic. It's our way of being passive aggressive, sarcastic, and contrary.
Is it childish? Yes.
I don't care, though. It's an internet forum FFS.

Some of my best friends in life were made on this forum. Some of my worst enemies too.
For the most part I think we're a pretty good group of dudes with some level of insanity to enjoy and do the things we do. Many hang out and communicate off board/forum, even though the camaraderie may have begun here. TF has always been something that accentuates that.

Hey Milner, did you get my pm the other day? I hope so, haven't heard back from you.
This message applies to anyone on the board that has been a target for my misdirected hostility in the past.
Milner,
Most sincere apologies are in order from me to you. I had some bad experiences here when I first joined, and carried my resentment too far. Somehow my far reaching anger ended up coming your way, and for that, I am sorry. You are a very talented, knowledgeable, and valuable member here.
I think, the disappearance of a certain member here, has helped me to see that there's no reason to be here if not to positively contribute and do my best to be cordial with everyone. I will still correct misinformation from time to time, because thats just how I roll, but I can certainly do it with more tact and class than I have in the past. Mostly, i'm here for fun, and it's not fun to argue or express anger towards people that I have never met, and would likely get along with just fine in person.
I have several fences to mend here, yours was the first on my list. Her';s to hoping you can accept my apology, and we can move forward.
:beer
Have a great evening.

Prior to making the decision to change my attitude in search of a more fulfilling time on this earth, the four years previous to that time were the worst 4 years of my life. Thats not an excuse, just some insight as to why I was acting the way I was. Projection.

Lots of relationships have been formed by owning a trike. It's a passion we share and we enjoy fixing them and talking about them.
Then you meet the person at Trikefest and you find more in common.
I've met many many of the members and next thing you know you've got Ghost peppers, honey and Joe Swatland eating the last sausage in front of you
Really really great guys. Everyone knows how much Ronnie gave away, what a great guy he was, RIP. So many other guys I'd love to meet in person.....
I'll help anyone, as long as they're willing to listen. Debating is fine but if your wrong and the other person can point out why, shut up and listen.
I've seen 5 thousand posts from members that were 75% useless. So, the post count doesn't mean everything.
But, think about reading the same forum for 18 years filled with different topics and what YOU'D learn over that period of time!!

I believe he is attempting to illustrate how easily it can become frustrating to help some people. It makes It much easier to offer help if the person asking is willing to try things, buy things, listen and even make a mistake or two along the way. Nothing gets done by doing nothing.

It's gonna to be a blast this year. Can't wait to meet some new people. Just from my 2 day stay at TF, it's made me want to come back every year

I'd like nothing better than cruise the Canadian and US country side seeking out like minded individuals. There's so much to learn and experience. I've been to 10 Provinces, 1 Territory and 20 states and need to see more! The folks on this forum give me the virtual tour for the ones I haven't had the pleasure to visit. It's a shame I can't make Trikefest this year; the Tri-x-side is hankering to tackle the red clay of Indiana again!

Your a hellallot closer than me, try to go for a minimum of 5 days, I usually go for 7 days.
That is when tires don't fall off my camper and total it. I hated that popup POS anyhow, lol....
Watching everyone roll in is an event itself and apparently river tubing is in now.
I ordered my tube :w00t:

Haha, I need one. Dad is coming with me this year. Im staying from Thursday to Sunday. Next year I hope to be there on Monday.
Hopefully by next TF i can have my flatbed built for my S10 to haul my 2 trikes and then a small pop up or really light camper. Something just to sleep in and store my crap lol.
Thought about buying a jersey with my name and my forum name on a riding jersey. So all my interweb aquatiences can either go, "hey I know that stupid kid, I'll introduce myself" or "oh no, its him, take the trail before he sees us"
lol. I look forward to meeting many of you.

^ Yes, your right. Some years I don't get to meet or see the regulars because they're there only Sat/Sun, maybe Friday; But it gets BUSY!
Last time I went I brought a dry erase board and wrote "DIRTCRASHER is in da house!!" so hopefully everyone would stop by.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using TapatalkI hauled 2 trikes in my both of my s10s. I had extended axles on them aswell. I put one on backward and the other on frontward. The trike on the back just barley sat on the tailgate. I used several tie-down straps.Plus all my gear, tools and gas.

I have a step side. It fits my 200x perfect. My 82 250r with 20x10s Fits tight.
My idea with the flat bed is to haul 2 trikes by puting them sideways on the bed. Plus the bed is rusting so it gives me an excuse to build one.
Or I just listen to my wife who tells me if I let it rust out, she'll be more inclined to let me get a bigger truck [emoji481]

Lots of physical pain for sure. What else is new.
I thought we were here to support each other and / or make fun of
the reasons we decide to stay in the game.

In the inner circle if your dog is smaller than a cat, you have to put a rainbow bumper sticker on your trike.

Only way I'll ever be in the inner circle is if I fall into box of Fruit Loops.
