Came across a nearby farmer at a restraunt couple of weeks ago and conversation turned to ATV'S.
He told me his father bought this 85 250ES brand new and parked it when the 4 wheeler version came out,,,, then he parked the quad next to it when the John Deere gators came out.
Shook hands @ 175.00 then he indicates I may as well take the quad for somewhere around same money,,,, ~ no thanks, I like trikes.
Lator on he says he may as well put the front end bushings in the quad and give to one of his kids in northern mi. so l gave him a manual I some how aquire somewhere.
Over all the Bigred is "in good condition for the shape it's in" ~ lol.

Nice pull out of that barn... At least you didn't have to pay extra for all the dust on it.

Or at least brought the quad to TF and sold it for what you payed for both of them. That would still have been a good deal on the quad

When I stopped by there today the hired hand said he started to get it out cause it had rained so there wasn't any field work going on but was told not to disturb until I got my "barn find" pictures.
The fella said he would have it out by the door for me after the week end. I asked if it could just stay put till like November,,, I really ain't in no hurry. Oh heck no wants to have rainy day work and is going to reorganize that storage area ~ lovely.
Another board member asked if I would check into the quad for him so I will but it will hafta set under a tarp or something. Plum out of room.
The right side kicker cover is floating around somewhere on the farm according to farmer. The last barn find Bigred I came across,,, the very first 3ww fundraiser trike, the farmer knew exactly where the side cover was. He put it behind his shop door the first time he had to kick start it and never reinstalled. Man it was dark inside that storage area. Had my 4 D battery LED light on when I snapped pictures to help. Took a few with digital camera as well to be able to edit better then I can on cell phone pictures.

Thats awesome . Love the pics in the barn . Hunting on my buddies property , I was shooting my share of deer over the fence , on his uncles place . In good morals , I wanted to offer his uncle some deer meat or , labor . When I went to his farm , I saw a pile of hay bales in the barn , with " something " else . That something was a 84 Big red with title . It now belongs to me . Love the find pics . I should have taken some .

You'll make something of this John. At least it was dry and out of the sun. I have to say it looks well used for only a year or two in service.

nice score! Still has the rubber side pieces on the rear fenders....seems like you are back where you started with trikes before you sold the ones to Gary, lol

If you were closer I would get the ATV and help you get them out.

John,
Would you want to sell the clips that hold on the trim on the sides of the rear fenders? Make you a good offer. lol
Time to update this thread. I've had this big red since July of 2016. It's been a fun fun project so far. John installed a new battery, oil change, tire swap and a gas tank and carb cleaning. So far I've rebuilt the carb, did the electrolysis method of gas tank cleaning, installed a new driveshaft boot, got new front forks and rebuilt them, new front wheel bearing, fork boots.
Rear led light, fuses, brake cable and hardware, grips, exhaust gasket at pipe connection and head, fuel line and filter, throttle cable, I'm sure there's more. So far I've yet to have one bolt/nut/screw strip or break. I did soak everything for weeks before wrenching. The front axle/hub was Seized up real good. Soaking, little heat and time/patience and I won that battle.

Going to have this BR up and running by Rose City this summer?
Yes it will. It's going on it's maiden voyage in a couple of weeks. Lyod, I will look and see if the clips our still there for the side fender trim pieces. If so you can have them

Thanks Chris, I had an aftermarket trim on and tore it off some place and away went the clips. I have the OEM piece to put back on.
There is only 1 clip, it's on the passenger side. Pm your address and I'll mail it to you.
