I can't believe some people, I think he might be sitting on it for awhile. I have a guy local to me that has a 250r 86 and is looking to trade it for a mint 200s or big red or 2g's, now that would be a deal for a trade.

Dont you just love it when they coat the tires in Armorall? Just makes me want to put a horn and some blinkers on it and hit the main drag in town.

I like the part when they say "Just like new", then comes the "bored to 80 over" and replaced this and replaced that. If it was like new you wouldn't have had to replace all the parts. I think there should be a law that states a standard of the words "new" or "mint" and you get your wheeler impounded if you don't use the words right, hehe.

.080 over! I didn't even know you could bore a 250R that much, it must run super cool with the water jackets being so close to the piston LOL!

If I'm not mistaken I think you can bore a liquid cooled r more than 100 over

I'd pay $2000 for it but not $3000.

You'd pay 3000 but the reserve isn't met at that, I'm sure the reserve is close to the buy it now price of 4g's. I think it's one of those deals where the wife is telling him he has to sell it and he figures that nobody will ever buy it at that price and he can at least said he tried. hehe Maybe he's smarter than we think, or not.

I don't think it matters whether it is air or liquid cooled. Each model has different specs. Cylinder sleeves have a wall thickness only so much. Thin them too much and heat expansion would cause a catastrophe. I always see 250R quads for sale .060 over, I think thats pretty close to their last bore.??

Most of the Yamahas max at .080" but I think the later R's can go to .120". Ill let you know when mine gets there!

My '85 ATC250R is at .125 over right now. I can't remember if they said they could go one more or not...

Seems like you have a disdian for people who describe their trikes like they are. You should try to describe your. Old air, aircooled, slow etc etc etc

What are you talking about?

Mine is a 250r air cooled, bored over 50. Really good condition with only one small dent in the gas tank...... Oh it's air cooled, did I mention that....

Hmmmm.... I described it like it was.... I guess you showed me, huh?

Last post was for 250srslow, didn't want to put in too much information at once, I would've have confused the guy.

I can't grasp the concept of why someone would want a 250r. Especially an air cooled one. As far as being confused goes, it is a two stroke. Those are made for people who can't grasp the concept of a nice clean four stroke. Sorry for any inconvenience, sorry if i created a stir on the board.

Hang on....

I love this board and I love different opinions, never apologize for creating a stir. I have this argement every time that my brother and I go out, he owns a 350x four stroke. I love my R but I can admit that there are times that I long for the 4stroke, no fuel mixing and cleaner. But I love the speed and power of my R and the lighter engine and the machine. I have driven the liquid cooled r's and they are faster I have to admit than my 83, but I have pleanty of fun and speed on it regardless and I think I handle it good enough that too many people don't get away from me, hehe. Talk to you later, hope you didn't take offense.

Scott

Oh, if I find out that your 4stroke is a 110, I'm going to have to pick on you though. :D

Some people (Like myself, TimSr, and others) just really don't care for 4 strokes that much. Even though I'm building my 500X four stroke, I'd rather have a 2 unless it was something like CRF450. Its just a personal preference. Something I have found out though is that quite a few people bash 2 strokes until they actually get some seat time on one and then they really like them.

One reason someone might want an aircooled R is for how easy they are to work on (I'm sure Wickedfinger will attest to this). If you burn some rings up in an aircooled R and you have the parts you can just about change them in 30-45minutes. The aircooled 250R's are definetly not the fastest, best handling trikes, but they do have their place in the trike world. And its a pretty high posistion.

Let's compare, not too much difference other than the 6 speed and an 1 1/2 on the overall length. The air cooled is has actually more cc, hehe. So it comes down to what it's pushing out for Horsepower, anyone know that and the top speeds? Handling should be right around the same though. Oh yeah, would've saved a 150 bucks too on the 84, ;)

Four stroke, two stroke, water cooled, air cooled, blah blah blah - WHO CARES, to each his own. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I ride my Blaster when I want to be a lunatic nailing it everywhere. I ride my 250SX when I want to cruise around just poppin wheelies or enjoy traction. Both machines have completely different levels of fun but are both a blast to ride.

Yeah, I'd have that attitude too if I wasn't lucky enought to own a 250r. Hehe, just kidding, I know what you mean, I started out on a Honda 125 four wheeler with no suspension, it was fun though, better than nothing.

Just look at the pro's McGrath, R.C. they both have awesome two strokes at there command anytime and what do they also love - 50's. Fast 50's BBR Racing 50's , whoever hops them up -there all fun. To me if it has a throttle and moves my trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro around I'm happy.
